"You're such a brat!" Shawn laughs over FaceTime.
"Shut up loser!" I laugh along.
He puts his face close up to the camera and makes the ugliest face in the world which makes me laugh. I do the same. I smush my face at the camera and make my monkey impression. We burst into laughter. He's wearing his necklace. I'm wearing mine. I couldn't help but notice.
"You're wearing your necklace!" I say with the cheesiest smile of 2016.
"So are you!" He smiles
"I miss you so much" he says.
"I miss you more" I sigh.
"I just wish you were here" he smiles.
Right now he's in Houston and that's pretty far.

Two days later I get a letter in the mail.
Avia,
I saw a lot of horses today. We went to a rodeo and dannnnnggggg! They had all different kinds of horses. I wish you could be here. You'd love to see all these horses. Say hi to your horse for me. What's his name; Sebastian, cookie, whatever. I really want to start riding now since I saw how cool it was. You should teach me! Anyways, FaceTime me ok? Love ya sis.

Inside was a picture of him and a horse. It looked like an Appaloosa. There was also a brochure that said 'Best in Texas Rodeo'.
I hopped on my bed and opened up my FaceTime app. It was 8pm his time.
About 4 calls later he finally picks up.
"Sup" he smiles.
Damn.
"Hey" I say.
"Did you get my letter?" He asks.
I wave the paper around.
"Ah good." He laughs.
"Do you really want me to teach you to ride Seabiscuit?"  I laugh because Shawn got his name so wrong. (A/n: who knows the story of the horse Seabiscuit?)
"Oh that's his name?!" He asked surprised.
We both laughed.
We talk for a while and eventually hang up.

I start walking to Ian's house. Ian is Shawn's boy best friend and he's also a good friend of mine. Chelsea, Tori, Nadia, Josh and Ian wanted to have a get together.
As I arrive to the door, Nadia comes onto the porch as well.
"Hey Avi!" She says. (A/n: her nickname is Avi. Only her close friends call her that. It's pronounced A-Vee)
"Oh hey Nadia!" I say not realizing she was behind me.
I ring Ian's doorbell and his dad comes to the door.
"Hey girls come on in." He greets us.
We make our way down to his basement where his lounge is.
"Oh sup uglies!" Ian says looking up from looking at some book.
"You're nice" Nadia laughs.
We just laugh.
Chelsea, Tori,and Josh are sitting on his couch and all turn to look at us when we walk in.
Ian grabs a bag of chips and puts it into a bowl for us to share.
"So..." Tori says.
"So..." Ian says as he sits down.
Those two have something to hide I can tell by the look that they give off.
"Ok what are you hiding?" Chelsea asks.
"Yeah" Nadia and I ask at the same time.
"Well..." Ian and Chels say together.
"Look at the latest picture on StarPop." Chelsea says
We all look at the magazine in the table.
"Oh no." I say.
Shawn.
We huddle up to read it and we see a paparazzi picture of Shawn Mendes and another girl.
"No" Chelsea says looking at me.
I shrug.
At this point, we aren't dating so I don't mind. Paparazzi also make things look like it isn't. All of my friends here know I like him and I have for the past month.
Then I look closer.
Where was his necklace?
