‘Abbie.’ I whispered softly. ‘You have to wake up now.’

We were in my car in the middle of Zone 2. It was the day after, what had happened. And Abbie still hadn’t spoken to me.

‘Im so sorry. Abbie. I know how it feels to loose everything. Korse did the exactly same to me.’

And I did know, of course, because this is what Korse had done to my son and husband. That’s why I hated him more than the average killjoy. Abbie opened her eyes. They were red, she had been crying in the night.

‘You don’t know do you?’ She said quietly looking at me.

‘Well, yes. I do.’ I replied surprised.

‘No, she was all I had left. I had hope. But now shes gone and I have nothing at all. Korse killed my husband Billie. And now hes taken her aswell.’ She sat up and pulled her hood down sighing.

‘Im, well. Abbie. Im sorry, that’s all that I can say. Were both alone now. But we cant let Korse break us. That’s what he wants. We have to fight back. Together Abbie.’

She looked at me but didn’t say anything. She hadn’t spoken much since what Korse had done.

‘Is there somewhere we can stay? I mean. Any friends of yours anywhere?’ I asked, it was the only thing I could think of saying.

‘Yes.’ Abbie replied without looking at me. ‘Zone 4. In an old house, I have a few friends there.’

‘okay’ I replied and started the engine. That’s where we were going.

We drove in silence, out of the corner of my eye I could see Abbies hunched figure and her steady breathing, I figured she was asleep. I had never seen anyone sleep so much even after what had happened. But atleast she could dream in her sleep, I loved dreams. They allowed you to be who you want, live the life you wanted or even star in your own mini fantasy, if only dreams could become reality, i sighed thinking to myself. Not being able to stand the silence anymore I put the radio on, a song was playing, one I recognized. I racked my brain trying to remember the title, I could remember all the lyrics just not what the song was called.

‘What the hell?’ I said talking to myself. I tapped the steering wheel along with the beat, come on, I knew this song!

‘Cemetery drive.’ Abbie said making me jump.

I looked at her startled, of course!

‘My Chemical Romance.’ I smiled at her, but she had turned away so I figured that’s all she would be saying for a while.

I hadn’t heard My Chemical Romance in years, the last time I had listened to them was driving over to the zones the day I had become a killjoy. I had loved their music and my old house had been plastered with their posters. But since all the shit with BL/ind. They had disappeared and stopped making music.I had found out that they were actually killjoys now, some of the best. They were like role models to all us tumble weeds. But I had heard that sadly Jet Star had been ghosted and even maybe Kobra Kid, but this was just what I had been told, so it might not be true. I hoped, anyway.

I had finally reached Zone 4. It was getting dark and I didn’t know where to go now, I would have to wake Abbie up and ask her.

I pulled over onto a lay by and shook her gently, ‘Abbie.’ I whispered. ‘Were in Zone 4, where is the house?’

Abbie murmered and turned over, when I didn’t think she was going to answer she finally came out with, ‘In the main estate, just drive straight, you will find it. Its number 22.

‘Okay.’ I sighed starting the engine again and driving down the main road through the Zones. Route Guano. After about 20 minutes I could see the sillouete of some buildings, when I reached them I figured this was the estate Abbie had been talking about. It took me a while to find 22 because some of the numbers had fallen off and the houses were barely standing. I pulled up outside what I hoped was the right house and stopped the engine. It was late now and I was tired and couldn’t wait to go to sleep. Taking the keys and sitting back I looked up at the house. It seemed to be the largest on the estate and the only one still intact.
