Literally a few minutes after the girl had made the call a man walked into the room in a white suite. Great, a Drac. He walked to stand infront of us and I looked up at him and gasped. Turning away as fast as I could I bit my lip. I knew him, his name was David, he had been Joe’s best friend and fellow Killjoy. But instead of Korse killing him like he had Joe, he made a deal with him. That David worked for him and told him everything he knew. Being the coward David is he accepted and watched Joe die.
Spinning back round again I hit David as hard as I could in the jaw. Looking hurt he held his cheek.
‘What the fuck Billie?’
Abbie gasped, ‘You know him!?’
‘Yes.’ I replied angrily, ‘I know him.’
I lept forwards ready to hit him again but he caught my fist and pulled me into a hug. I thrashed trying to get out of his grasp but he was to strong for me.
‘Get the hell off me!!’ I screamed. ‘I don’t want you anywhere near me!! You coward!!’
Looking into my eyes he replied, ‘I had no choice Billie.’ But he showed no expression of guilt on his face at all.
‘Get off me.’ I whispered near tears. He let go of me and I fell backwards stumbling into Abbie who was standing behind me. She hugged me looking over my shoulder at David.
‘Who is he?’ She whispered.
‘He used to be a friend of Joe, but he watched him die.’
She let go off me and stood infront of him blocking him from my view.
‘What the hell do you want?’ She asked him.
‘Jeeze.’ He replied running his hands through his hair. David was really tall, had black hair, like Joe’s and blue eyes.
‘Im only doing what I am told!’
‘And what was that?’ Abbie replied angrily.
‘To come and guard you guys till the boss gets here, I didn’t realize it was her.’ He snarled. Looking over Abbie at me, I caught his eye and a tear ran down my cheek. He still didn’t show any emotion. Abbie turned and stood next to me. The girl jumped infront of David and said excitedly. ‘Can I go now that I found them?’
‘No.’ Was all David said. She walked away and sat at a table in the corner sighing.
I took my sketch pad out and looked at the writing from joe. A tear ran down my painting making it smudge. David smurked. I looked up at him with hate in my eyes. David put his hands up as if to say ‘woah, chill out.’ And sat at a table infront of the door way.
I sat next to Abbie who was sitting in the seat I had been In the day of this fire. She was fiddling with a singed paint brush. The one I had been using. Breaking the silence Abbie asked David.
‘So, what are they gunna do with us?’
I looked up and met his eyes, quickly looking back down at the table.
‘I dunno. But I reckon Korse has got summin up his sleeve.’ He replied shrugging.
‘Great.’ I whispered and could feel David looking at me.
About half an hour later we heard movement in the hall way. And who stolled in? Korse of course. The girl ran up to him and cried. ‘Can I go now?’ He looked at her and nodded and she ran out of the room, not giving us a second glance.
‘Bitch.’ Abbie whispered under her breath.
Korse came and stood behind us, two dracs pulled us out of our chairs and held us up right. I looked over at David but he wouldn’t look me in the eye.
