Mother may I
Tell you what you have done
Mother may I
Share the love you have brung
To me, to us, to all the children you have met
You've shared so much there is no way we can forget
Mother may I
Express the joy that I have
Mother may I
Show you how much you've mad us glad
That you took the time to love and care for me
Even when I behaved nastily
Mother may I
Thank you for the times you've spent
Mother may I
Say that you must be heaven sent
Because even though we fuss and fight
And yell and shout with all my might
And even though I pout and grumble
And beneath my breath say a nasty mumble
You've never treated me like a chore
And this I must say just makes me adore.
Mother may I
Shout as hard as I can
Mother may I
Tell you that I am a huge fan
Even when you shout and cuss
And sometimes make a huge fuss
But I know in this heart of mine
That I love you even more than time
No diamond, no gold, no riches untold
Can replace our memories of
The good, the bad and the great
And so I'm here to appreciate
Mother may I
Say that you are the one
Mother may I
Tell you 'I love you tons.'
