Running out of things to say... x
I woke up at 6:00 again, but this time was different. Instead of wrapping myself into my duvet cucoon and hitting 'snooze' I jumped straight up and got into the shower. As the luke-warm water washed over my shivering body I thought about what I was going to do with Nathan today.
Do I just ignore him?
Or do I act as if nothing happened yesterday?
I decided on forgetting about yesterday's doings and just smile at him and see what he did after that. Despite it all being planned out, as I got dressed I could feel butterflies in my stomach. I tied my hair up in a 'cheerleader high' pony tail and straightened my side fringe before applying my make up. I did my gloss with no problem but my mascara kept missing my lashes because my hand was shaking so badly. I couldn't stop worrying about today. It was going to be so hard with Nathan. I ran down the stairs and picked up a pear from the dining room table before slinging my bag over my shoulder and shouting 'good-bye' to my mum.
'Bye honey! Love you! Have a good day!' was the reply I got along with, 'friggin' wait up Nikki.' from Curt.
I waited in the lounge with Dave for ten mintutes before Curt finally came downstairs.
'Finally!' I exhaled, 'can we go now?'
Curt rolled his eyes and opened the front door. We walked to school in silence, Curt with headphones in his ears, me with my phone in my face (not literally). Eventually, we got to school and I walked off to find Jenna.
'There you are! You took forever to get to school! I arrived early for you so we could talk!' Jenna grunted.
'Blame Curt.' I glared at Curt's back.
'Do you know what you're going to say to Nathan?'
'Just smile and see what he says...' I shrugged.
'That's fair enough... So, did you think about Ty?'
I sighed, 'No, I know you and Nathan say he's bad news and stuff but I like him... He's so good looking and funny but I don't know...'
'He is bad news but whatever. Do what you like, date him, marry him, whatever - I don't give a damn but just know that when he breaks your heart into a million tiny pieces I'll be the first to say ''I told you so'' and I'll be the last to help clear up the mess he'll leave you in.' Jenna opened her locker and began layering shiny lipgloss onto her lips. I sighed and opened my locker and pulled out all the things I'd need that day.
I turned to face Jenna but she'd already walked off to her lesson. I could tell she was in a mood and I had a feeling this was going to be our first real argument. Joy. To make matters worse, Nathan came strolling up beside me and opened his locker. Without saying a word.
I cleared my throat, '... Hi ... Nathan ...?'
His big brown eyes connected with mine and I felt sparks fly. Kinda. He grinned, 'Alrigh'?'
'Mm, you? Did you get like, a detetion last night?'
'Nope.' He replied, popping the 'p'.
I nodded, 'Cool.'
Awkward.
'Well, see ya around, Nikki.' Nathan smiled slightly at me then walked off.
I tucked my fringe behind my ear which was pointless because, as usual, it fell straight back into its favourite position. I began walking to Classroom 13. I could tell that today was going to be crud.
