A farmer owned an old mule, one day it fell into the well. The farmer heard the mule braying. Although the farmer sympathized with the mule, the farmer decided neither the mule nor the well was worth saving. He called his neighbors, told them what had happened, and enlisted thier help in hauling dirt to bury the old mule and put him out of his misery.
Initially, the only mule was hysterical; however, as the farmer and his neighbors continued to shovel dirt into the well and onto its back, the old mule had an insight. He decided that as every shovel of dirt landed on his back, he would shake it off and step up. This he did! No matter how painful the blows or how distressing the situation seemed, the old mule fought panic and kept shaking it off and stepping up.
Eventually, the old mule stepped triumphantly over the wall of the well. What seemed like it would bury him, actually helped him! Moral of the story: don't let things bury or bring you down, just shake it off and step up!
