The look that Varsy had on his face worried Chris. Something was wrong. She waited for him to speak as he cleared his throat.
"Alright. I've got some good news and some bad news. Good news is, everyone on the list is here, so now we can free all the other tests subjects. Bad news is, this helicopter can only hold twelve people. There's thirteen of us that are supposed to head back to the base." The wind was the only sound that filled their ears as Varsy let the news sink in. No one spoke while they did the math, someone would have to stay behind.
"I'll stay." To Varsy's horror, Chris had just volunteered herself.
"No Chris. You have to head back to the base."
"Why can't I? All day I'm stuck in tents with nothing to do. I hardly ever get to help people. I've made up my mind, Ill wait." Chris said with determination. Varsy sighed and walked over to her. He hugged Chris then whispered in her ear,
"Alright, you can stay, I just don't want to lose you like we lost mom and dad." She nodded then stepped back from the helicopter.
"Don't worry Justin. Ill take care of her since Im staying here until the last helicopter arrives. I'll put her in the third one, ok?" Dr Aubrey said, her left hand on Chris's right shoulder. "She'll be safe, I promise."
The helicopter took off. But the sudden realization of what Chris had done made her shake. Kahlen looked at the fourteen year old. She was too young for this, but it was her decision. "Chris, lets go back down and pull the lever that frees everyone else."
"How many people are left?" Chris asked as they headed back into the building.
"Thirty-four I think." They left to go pull the lever in the security room. Dr. Aubrey entered the room while Chris stood guard outside.
The fat solder inside was sleeping with a a bag of chips on his stomach, Kahlen was careful not to wake him. She pulled the lever and all the cell doors opened. Dr. Aubrey watched using the security monitors as the prisoners heads peeked out. Chris left to guide them to the roof.
"Cmon get out! We need to get to the roof!" Chris yelled to the test subjects. A human test subject stepped out of his cell slowly and growled,
"This is probably one of your cruel tricks. Oh let's open the doors so we can kill all the tests subjects! It'll be funny!" Some of the man's skin had a strange, almost burlap look to it, like a half-sack half-human. Before Chris could reply a loud buzzing noise and red lights suddenly filled the crowded hallway.
"ATTENTION ALL PERSONNEL. WE HAVE DISCOVERED THAT TWO MEMBERS OF THE REBELLION HAVE INFILTRATED THE BUILDING! THEY ARE WEARING LAB COATS AND HAVE LONG BROWN HAIR. ONE IS A HYBRID."
"Shit" Chris said. "Lets get a move on before they start the lockdown!" She lead them to the rooftop, as the second helicopter landed. Twelve people climbed on and left. Kahlen rushed up the stairs and hid beside the door with a gun in her hand. Chris did the same on the other side and took out her gun. Two soldiers ran up with assault riffles. The two rebels pointed their semi automatic pistols at the soldiers heads.
"Move, and we won't hesitate to shoot. Now drop your weapons." Dr. Aubrey said. The soldiers did as they were told.
"Now turn around." They turned and then Chris and Kahlen used the back of their pistols to knock them out. After they had shoved the men down the stairs the took the weapons. The third helicopter finally arrived and Chris climbed on with eleven of the people they had just saved.
"Alright, see you at the base!" Chris yelled as Kahlen waved. She sat back as the helicopter took off, everyone was silent. "Sooooooooo......" Chris broke the silence. "Umm..... Let's get to know each other, since there's about a thirty minute flight left... So my name is Christina or Chris and uh I'm usually healing people in the base and sometimes I go on field missions like today! So umm.... Who's next?"
The half sack man spoke next. "My name is Anthony and I was captured when I was fifteen years old and experimented on up till now." The next to speak was a changebrid.
"Hey i'm Jordan and I'm a cat changebrid and uh..... I worked in town until two months ago when I was found out." Everyone said their names and explained a little about themselves.
'Nice save' Chris thought. They arrived at the base and 5 minutes later the last helicopter arrived. When Chris climbed out of the helicopter she was tackled by an english labrador. "Hi Felix!" Chris said. The english lab panted and licked her face. Felix was rescued seven months ago from an animal testing lab.
After Chris had finally gotten Felix to stop attacking her with love, her brother ran up and tackled her, "Varsy, get off me!"
"I was so worried I heard they found you and I was scared they had gotten you!" Varsy hugged tighter and tighter.
"Please let go before my head pops off." A soft apology came from the nineteen year old. He then led the group in to the tents. Chris went into the medical tent. "Hi Ariel! Did you break your leg AGAIN?."
The cheetah hybrid waved as his leg was being casted by a middle aged man. "Nope I broke my arm. HERE'S YOUR SIGN!" Chris threw a wet towel on his face and he flattened his cheetah ears.
"Wash up that sarcasm of yours. Speaking of Sarcasm, did Seamus see James?" The middle age man nodded. "Thanks Grey. And how's the wound?"
"Healing. Dr Aubrey said I'll be back on the field by next wednesday!" Ariel tried to throw the dirty towel at Chris but he missed.
"Nice try Ariel." Chris exited the tent as Kay entered. She could hear Kay start scolding Ariel. Chris tried to find the injured hybrid that needed his wound cleaned. She found a human with the hybrid in his arms. "Excuse me, but his wound needs to be cleaned up." The human looked up at her, or rather down because of her height.
"Well where's the medical tent? There's so many tents and I don't know which is which." Chris lead him into the tent and Kahlen walked over and led the two over to a treatment area. Chris headed outside to go change, but was stopped by a loud scream.
"Oh my gosh IT'S DEADLOX! HE'S BACK!" Everyone rushed to the entrance of the camp as a brown haired man with emo hair like Ariel limped through the entrance and collapsed.

DUNDUNDUUUUUUUUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So I chose Ariel as the male character! Thank you for everyone that entered but Skylar and Ariel won! So I decided to add also deadlox because I thought some Skylox would be good. So I hope you liked this chapter and sorry it was shorter than usual.
