A bad friend

"I don't know what she wants!" Leo shouts, exasperated at the misfortune he has stumbled onto. "She's like a broken switch! Her emotions always on and off. Humans are already so complicated. Goddess? Of course they would be confusing!" Leo was upset and he was ranting these all to the one person he could trust -- you.

"Calm down Leo," you said hoping to hide the excitement rising in your heart. "I know you feel angry right now, but c'mon. Everything has a fix to it right?" It hurts your lungs to say such comforting words. You badly wanted Leo to break with Calypso, and him to come to you, but with these thoughts, you won't be a friend of his right?

Leo sighed. "That's what I said to her on our first encounter," he seemed to tear up, his eyebrows narrowed. "I should have know more. The first time I met her, she was angry at me for no apparent reason, she looked like those girls known for bullying others...and yet I...of course she would be unreasonable again."

You nodded your head, taking in what Leo was saying.

You felt guilty while hearing him rant on. You knew you are the reason to his problems. The main source. Due to Calypso nature of easily falling in love and the curse of them loving someone else, she got easily jealous of others who came close to Leo, and TA DA. You pop out of nowhere shoving it into her face you and Leo were so close, you guys were like a couple.

Pft, you mentally scoffed. Leo's to dense to see I am the one who truly loves him. But you can't really say much. Calypso actually treated Leo really nicely until you butted in.

"I don't think I will ever be happy," he grumbled, tears on the verge of falling.

And it hit you hard.

Maybe, if I was gone...Leo would have a happier life. You thought as you patted Leo's back, drawing small circles hoping to comfort him while you comforted your own broken soul.

'The thing is," he sobbed, "I still love her and I...I don't know why she's doing, no, acting like this. What did I do wrong? I didn't even give a pick up line to a single girl! I didn't even..." and he seemed to lost his voice to speak. "I-I I thought," he whispered, "Of course, I'm a nothing. Nemesis was right. I'm a third wheel. I don't belong."

You wanted to hit Leo badly, to wake him up and show him, he's wrong, there are other girls for him, but what was the point when the main source of his problem was you. Not him.

It is your selfishness to be with him that you would always stuff Calypso's pretty face with sights of you and Leo being "a couple". You hoped it caused a break up, but as said, then what kind of a friend are you?

"A bad one," you muttered.

Leo looked up from his hands, tears falling so gracefully, as if he has been crying so many times his tears already knew how to roll down his cheeks. "What?" He chocked out.

"I'm a bad person," you muttered. "I'm sorry."

Leo looked like the sky has fallen unto his shoulders. "What? No, you're not!" He cried out as you backed away from him, slowly and steadily as he tried to reach and grab you back. "You're not a bad friend!"

"No Leo, you don't understand! I'm the source of your problem! I'm a broken object and it's too late to fix it." You yourself wanted to cry, but you swallowed the lump in your throat.

You really wanted Leo to break up with Calypso.

"I caused your problem Leo, can't you see it? I'm a bad friend!"

And if you had that type of thinking, what are you?

"A bad friend," you shouted again, your energy all given to your voice, shouting words that you thought would only be stuck in your mind. "I'm selfish, I'm a bad friend, you best without me. Remember Leo? You said humans are complicated. I agree and now I'm the complicated one, but I'm sorry, I can't explain it." You took faster steps back. "It's too pain..."
