Long ringlets tumbled from over her shoulder, swinging down into the blonde’s way just as she shut off the water. They scarcely missed the flow. She thought for a moment that she might want to cut it, but then what would be the point, it’d be back to the same length again by the weeks end. Karolinna decided instead just to twist the swirls of flaxen up into a messy excuse for a bun and leave it at that.
The blade in her hand was still hovering just over the flesh she had previously marked, and the pounding on the door was growing louder. She turned her head towards it after a particularly violent slam against the surface, nearly forgetting about the streams of blood flowing down her leg. Karolinna snapped back just as fast though and grabbed a wad of paper towel. After wetting it lightly she began to chase the drips while the wound stitched itself shut.
Whoever was out there was either about to burst — something that Karolinna found quite funny, though she ignored the fact, as she always did, that if the shoe were on the other foot she would be none too pleased — or had plans to meet with death sooner than intended.
If it were Villahr on the other side of the door she might have opened it up. But then again, if it were at all possible it could be him, she wouldn’t have bothered locking it in the first place. This facility certainly wasn’t unfamiliar to the supernatural kind. Mostly Vicio, though they did see the occasional bloodsucker. Karolinna could smell the distinct difference in the air the moment a vamper entered the building and she would turn up her nose in disgust every time. It had to be a breather, because it certainly didn’t smell like her kin.
There wasn’t a whole lot of vampire on vampire violence in the region. None that was reported or extensive enough that one would need therapy. Well, rephrasing that to a more appropriate sentence; none that lived long enough to warrant the effects of therapeutic techniques. Karolinna mostly saw women, though there were some men form time to time as well, between the ages of seventeen and the right side of thirty-five, but not exclusive to. Humans and vicio were regulars to these walls, sometimes human-vicio half-breeds, like Villahr for example, but there were very few others.
Vampires put off an odour most pungent, due to their diets enriched with the horrid tang of metallic, and the scent wasn’t too difficult to pick up on in most cases; provided you’ve met or been in the company of a vampire before. Not long ago she might have noticed the unpleasant nip in her nostrils but Karolinna couldn't exactly be sure if she would be able to place it. She could now.
Perhaps that’s why this place was even relevant. Most of it’s victims were virgins to the vampiric race, and they wouldn’t have known any better. To run the opposite direction —Until it’s too late. By the time they realize the trap they’ve walked into, the night-walker is fang deep into them both figuratively and literally. There minds are no longer their own, either to powers of seduction or their own fear.
Another loud knock sounded, and then another not long afterwards, and Karolinna threw her infradai down against the countertop in frustration. It clattered into the shallow white porcelain sink, the drain fortunately too small to swallow it down. It made no never mind whether or not the tool destroyed the plumbing if it had swirled the descent of the tubes, because Karolinna would have ripped every pipe apart to retrieve it anyhow.
“Wrap your knuckles on that door one more time. See what happens to you,” the blonde threatened, and the thuds immediately stop. A fellow vici would not have noted a sliver of truth in Karolinna’s words, or simply would not care, but a human in this society knew better than to pick a fight with a supe. It was a battle they would surely lose, and although Karolinna didn’t make it a habit of purposely killing off the mortals — they had all been honest to goodness accidents so far — she wouldn’t be against starting now. It would take a lot more than obnoxious noises to do it though, but she enjoyed the way the humans backed down after being clocked square with one of her threats or angry glares.
