My mother came in the room gawking at the screen.
"Honey turn that off, I don't want you to worry", she said, obviously hiding something.

"Mom what are you keeping from me? I am old enough to know!"

" You're only 13" mother was now mad at me for talking back.

"That doesn't mean you can treat me like a child like Andrew (referencing my younger brother). If theres a problem I should know!"

" I didn't want you to find out this soon, but I guess I should tell you whats happening in the world."

My mother sat me down and told me that at her job in the town hall, she had found out what was coming. Birth rates skyrocketed, and so did death rates, but birth was much higher. Countries have gotten together, trying to figure out a solution; none has come.

She went on about how she feared for me and Andrew. She feared that the people of this world will make the wrong decision and something bad-very bad- could happen. She didn't want us to worry, but she had to tell us sooner or later.

"Mom? What will become of this world then?"

"I don't know.. I don't know. But I hope that a clever solution is chosen so that no one gets hurt."
