One Last Chance

(POV: Sai)

"Sai..." a soft female voice whispered, I slowly opened my eyes to be blinded by the churches light and to see Texas standing over me. "Sai get up, they did it they got the power on!" Texas shot her hand out towards me to help me off the ground. As I stood up I glanced around the room for them. I saw Preyt checking on weapons, and Jessica and Carter were packing equipment. But not a single sign of Gage, Chris, or Aleks "Where are they?" I asked still searching "Radar says Theyre at the bridge waiting on us, we have to move." I grabbed my dao and unsheathed it to see the blade and checking for any damage before re-sheathing it. "Were running low on ammo." I said as we all gathered around the weapons. I glanced around at everyone "Mag count?" I asked. Preyt patted his vest "4 handgun mags" Tex checked her belt "2 mags.....wait actually," she then grabbed one off of Preyts vest "3 mags." Preyt quickly gave off a un-entertained glare at her. Jessica grabbed around on her person "5 mags." Carter followed soon after her "3 mags." I looked at Jessica "Jess spare 2 mags for the bag." she hesitated then threw two my way. "Thanks."

After getting all the equipment and ammunition was sorted out we stood outside the church waiting for our tram to arrive. All of us were nervous and fatigued. Trying to hold a group huddle was difficult and almost impossible. I looked down the tram tunnel to see one approaching. "Eyes up. Heres our ride." I ordered as I grabbed the handle of my dao. The tram slowed and stopped in front of us and we could already see blood on the outside. The tram door slid open and we all raised our weapons as if waiting for something. Carter looked at everyone and slowly started to approach the door. "What the hell?" he muttered as he lowered his weapon and walked into the tram. "Carter, get back here." I silentley whispered. My heart began to beat. Jessie looked at me and back at the tram "Nickolas?" she whispered for him. I looked at Tex and Preyt who were already looking at me waiting for the order. I nodded and they rushed in only to come slowly backstepping out of the tram. "Sai... you may wanna see this..." Preyt said as Texas began to gag. "Oh god." she said as Preyt kneeled down next to her to comfort her. I quickly walked towards the tram and entered it. As I entered I smelled the stench of death and decay. I looked at the wall Carter was staring at to see a young disembowled girl crucified onto the wall with repeating symbols cut into her skin. "For fucks sake." I said turning my head away from the mutilated corpse. "Carter help me get her down" I said grabbing the small girl."

We pulled her out and laid her down in front of the church. "Where not the only survivors on this ship." I said causing Carter to look up at me confused. "what do you mean?" "These things dont cut cult like symbols into peoples corpses." We both began to examine the symbols. "Oh shit." Carter said holding the girls arm up. I looked at it in shock "We See You" was carved into it. I glanced around the room. "Everyone on the tram. Now."

We all sat on the tram which was speeding. along the monorail until my HDG recieved a video call. It projected a holographic window of a bloodied and battered Gage. "Gage!?" he grinned "Hey Ellie.." "Oh my god what happend to you!?" "Me and Aleks ran into more than we expected earlier.." Gage looked back at Aleks who was propped up against the bridges command mainframe. "...long story short we fucked em up" Aleks said chuckling. weakly. I smiled and looked around the screen for Chris "Wheres Chris?" Gage remained silentlooked down and shook his head. "Im sorry. Ill tell Carter after were done." i said causing him to nod. I noticed there was something wrong his eyes were heavy. "Gage.... whats wrong?" Gage quickly met my gaze before looking away. "Gage?" He looked at me. "Ellie the Montana.... no ones responding.... and the Klots scanner isnt showing any life signs." I stared at him in shock and disbelief. "... I have a plan though.... ill wait till you all get here..... I love you Ellie." "I-I love you to" Gage nodded and the COMM ended I stared at the ground still in shock.

We arrived near the bridge and began walking towards it. "I just cant believe the Montana was overrun... I mean is it our fault?" "Dont be stupid Sai, it-it couldnt have." I looked back to see if Nickolas and Jessica were behind us and stopped. I saw a man in a robe standing far behind us and I unsheathed my dao an inch. "Sai? you ok?" I glanced at Texas and back and the robed man was gone. "Yeah, im fine. Just stay alert." We walked further until we got to an automatic door that slid open revealing Gage and Aleks sitting next to each other "Gage!" I quickly walked to Gage who got up and hugged me tight before releasing me and staring at the few survivors. "Alright.... heres our plan... I know we were sent to EVAC survivors, and reimmobilize the Klot.. " Gage started "But there are no survivors... and theres no way we can fix this thing without being killed... We have to destroy the Klot and the Montana" everyones eyes widened. "How? were talking about two of the best battle colony ships in the entire Colonial Navy." Carter questioned. Gage paused and looked at me. " Thats were the Klots Jump Core comes in... its the fastest. If we can create a single negative pulse from it, and Itll tear both of the ships apart." "Wont that kill us!?" Jessie asked "As long as we do what were suppose to do, no.... Sai your with me to go work on the jump core, Jess, Nick, Aleks , we need a Skycrane or a. Hellbird. Texas, John we need you here to establish reliable COMMs and provide overwatch with the Klots security drones. Everyone clear?" We all looked around for objection. "Alright, Belmont.... we'll do it... Its the only shot we got anyway." Carter said wrapping his arm around Jessie and walking towards the tram station with Aleks. "Come on, Ellie" Gage said with a grin behind me walking. down the stairs to the Core room.
