At eleven o'clock, my legs were shaking - why? Well, it was time for our Quidditch match. If only the game was as easy to play as the rules were to understand. Never mind...
"Okay men," Wood said.
"I'm a woman!" I yelled, tying my hair up into a ponytail to get it out of my face. "There are equal numbers of each gender you know! Don't be sexist!" He's ignorant... or blind. But I guess if he was blind he wouldn't save any goals. He's ignorant.
"And women," he added. "This is it."
"The big one," Fred interjected. I laughed.
"The one we've all been waiting for," George said. Apparently, they had heard the speech so many times, they know it off by heart. Wood scowled at the twins and everyone on the team smirked.
"We're going to win this one, I know it," Wood said determinedly.

"I want a clean game today," growled Madam Hooch. "Mount your brooms."
I got on my broom and the whistle was blown, meaning it was time to kick off. I rose into the air with the other sixteen brooms (including the referee). Wood had told me and Harry to go and stay well out of the way until we catch a glimpse of the Snitch. He took one side of the pitch and I took the other side, watching the game closely. Wood will kill us if we miss the Snitches.
Angelina just scored and we earned ten points. Flint tried to throw the quaffle into the goal but Wood blocked it. I smirked as Flint angrily flew away, cursing. I saw Harry dive after - the snitch! Then something else caught my eye: Flint. He was zooming straight towards Harry. Hissing angrily, I shot after him, but he got there first - BANG! I winced as Harry was knocked off course and in all the mess, the snitch had disappeared. Gryffindor got a penalty and we scored.
When a bludger hit Flint in the face, my broom gave a jerk.
"What?" I said, trying to hold on to it, as it was carrying it higher and higher, up into the sea of clouds. "George, Fred - help!" The Beaters didn't seem to hear me. Suddenly, the broom went back and forth, like it was it was trying to throw me off. It gave a huge jerk, and I did.
I was holding on only by one hand- one very sweaty, slipping hand on the broom.
"Dani, what's going on?" I turned to see Harry, who was also hanging off his broom, and I shrugged, obviously. The crowd gasped.
"Now they noticed!" I muttered angrily. I swapped hands on the broom.
"Dani can you reach my hand?" George yelled.
"I don't - NO ACTUALLY I CAN'T!" I yelled, as my broom, as though it was a magnet, shot back from his. I was right above the teachers stands.
Sweating madly, I grabbed my broom with my other hand. I saw... Hermione! Hermione? She crouched behind Snape and pulled out her wand. I stopped trying to get on, and I stared down at her. Her lips moved and a fire ball shot out of her wand and onto Snape's robes. Wicked!
"FIRE FIRE!" A random wizard yelled. Then with a cool stunt, I got back on my broom and it didn't try to throw me off.
"Seventy five points to Gryffindor!" Lee Jordan yelled.
I looked around to see a Snitch clasped in Harry's hand. I gave him a high-five as I flew past. Then I saw gold. I dived, and it headed towards the ground. I kept my eyes glued to it, even as I actually stood up on my broom and stretched out a hand to grab it. I tripped and the Snitch - it went into my mouth. I prayed silently that I wouldn't swallow it. Someone landed beside me.
"Dani honey, are you going to be sick?" It was George. I shook my head. "Come on baby, what's wrong?" I shook my head again, trying to cough the Snitch out of my mouth. He grabbed my hand and pulled me close to me, stroking my hair. "Can you breath, Dani? Dani? Babe speak to me." In answer, the snitch flew out of my mouth and into my cupped hands. I stared at it, dazed. He grinned and held my hand up for everyone to see.
"Gryffindor wins!"
George smiled at me, a spark in his eye. I blushed.
...
"Snape was cursing your broom!"
"That - ugh I can't even say it!" I said furiously, my words in a tangle.
"Nonsense," Hagrid said flatly. "Why would Snape try to curse a student? He's a teacher."
"He tried to get past that three-headed dog at Halloween," Harry told him. "He has a mangled leg now. Our thoughts are that he's trying to steal whatever it's guarding."
"How'd yeh know 'bout that?" Hagrid said, dropping his teapot. Hermione repaired it. "And 'bout Fluffy?"
"It's name is Fluffy?" Ron said blankly. "It has a name..."
"He's mine," Hagrid said. "I met a chap in the pub las' year and I won it off 'im. Lent it ter Dumbledore ter guard the-"
"Guard the?" Harry prompted. There was no reply but we all looked up at him eagerly. "Snape tried to steal it."
"Rubbish," Hagrid growled. "He's a Hogwarts teacher."
"He tried to kill Harry and Hannah!" Hermione pointed out. "I've read all about jinxes and he was definitely doing it! He had eyecontact, he was muttering and he wasn't blinking!"
"Listen, all of yeh," Hagrid said. "That dog and whatever it's guarding is none of your business. Don't meddle with it. It's dangerous that is. It's all between Professor Dumbledore and Nicolas Flamel-"
"Thanks Hagrid," I grinned.
...
Someone tapped me on the shoulder as I sat alone in the emptied Common room. I looked up to see George, who sat next to me.
"Why aren't you asleep?" I asked him, rubbing my eyes.
"I might ask you that, and how come you're sitting in the dark?" he asked.
"Tired, but I can't sleep," I said, "so I came down here." He nodded. "So er, thanks for caring early today in Quidditch."
"It's alright, I thought you were going to choke," George said sadly. "I was so worried about you."
"Me too," I said.
I looked at him, and he looked at me. Our eyes met. His blue eyes are so perfect. Before I knew what was happening, my heart was racing as his fingers stroked my cheek and the hair near it softly. His hands pressed lightly to my soft cheeks and I felt heat rise to my face. My heart, if that was possible, started to thump faster against my chest, and so loud I thought he could hear it. I slowly leant in, at the same time as him and his soft moist lips pressed against mine. I don't know how long we stayed there but it felt amazing.
We eventually pulled apart, smiling at eachother. He wrapped his arms around me and I lay my head on his chest, feeling the fast heartbeat of him. He planted a kiss on my forehead. I sat up.
"Dani, will you go out with me?" he asked, holding my hands.
"Yes!" I squealed. He laughed. "Yes a thousand times!"
Oh my god, George Weasley just asked me out!
