Ring...ring...ring...
I'm harshly awakened by my annoying ringtone. At five thirty. A.M.
I rub my eyes angrily and groan, rolling over and picking up my cell phone. I don't recall setting any alarm...
Once my sleepy eyes adjust to the brightness of the screen, I see Harry's name appear across it.
"Hello...?" I groggily greet the boy.
"Birdy! Good morning!" I pull the phone away from my face. His voice is far too loud and awake. For five thirty. A.M.
"What do you want?" My voice is raspy and I hate that he has to hear it like this over the phone. Annoyed, I get to the point so I can hopefully go back to bed.
"Wait. Were you sleeping?" He questions, as if people actually wake up at ungodly hours to take phone calls.
"Um...yeah?" Apparently, it's not obvious.
"Oh. Sorry. Well, get dressed! I'll be over to your house in...three minutes? Three and a half?"
"Harry, I-"
"-I'm on my way, please get ready. Wear something you can move in, love." He slowly instructs me.
"Why? What are we doing?" Flustered, all I want to do is lay down and sleep till ten.
"So many questions. Can't you just go without the answers to why I'm coming over at five thirty and why I won't answer your questions?" This boy.
Before I can say another word, Harry chimes back in. "Just get dressed. Please. I'm, like two blocks away now."
"Harry-"
"See you soon babe!" And he hung up.
The 'babe' was so quick that my sleep-ridden mind almost missed it. But I didn't.
Knowing that I probably wasn't going to get out of this, I roll out of bed and trudge to my dresser, but see that there are a pair of old sweatpants on the floor as I almost step on them. So I put those on and accompany them with a regular t-shirt and my regular converse. I tie my hair up in a ponytail after a few tries at a bun and go downstairs.
Ever since I got those casts taken off and the crutches taken away a few days ago, life has been much easier for me. I have a little brace I have to wear on my hand and I've been instructed to be very careful on my leg. They told me it healed a lot faster than they expected, so that was nice. I feel much freer now that I can move my body as I please. Kind of.
These past two weeks have been full of movie nights and baking and puzzles. Yes, puzzles. Harry already had a few and we have finished them in a matter of days. Not the most exciting things to do, but when Harry is here, I really can't complain.
I leave a note on the table for my mother that Harry is taking me to breakfast-even though I'm not too sure that's what is really happening- and that I'll be home in a bit.
Sure enough, as soon as I glance out the window, Harry pulls up to the curb and waits, staring ahead blankly- tired?- at the road. The sun isn't out yet, so it's still dark, but it's that morning dark where you can tell it won't be soon. It may be my favorite kind of dark.
I step out and quietly close the door behind me. Harry turns his head towards me and smiles wide, making the dark not so.
He waves and unlocks my door, shoving it open from the other side. "Good morning love! I hope you're ready for an exciting morning."
I laugh at the uncertainty of the situation, "I guess I'll have to be ready. Am I dressed appropriately?" I eye him questionably.
"I'm glad. You look fantastic. And yes, you're dressed correctly." I smile and look away, shutting the door.
