Chapter 8: The blinking lights

On the porch, a Female figure rushes out the screen door, tall and slim, with long Blonde big curled hair, an oval shaped face, fair skin and blue eyes in tears.

"Ririco?"

"You Bitch!! where the hell have you been? Jamie and i have been worried sick!!" she pouted so hard she looked like a boxer dog.

Nami smiles.

"I'm sorry"

"Are you okay? what got into your head anyway?? Your board was gone, it was raining and so much thunder and lightning and Angel called and Jessica's on the other side of the island looking for you and Nikki closed the bar to ask around and Janelle's on her way and- "

"slow down for gods sake, i said i was sorry"

Rico wouldn't stop talking and sulking and crying. she was always like this, acts like a child only because shes the youngest in the group and pretends to know nothing, but everyone knew better about Ririco, she was terribly smart and quick witted, could keep a secret extremely well, but when it came to acting natural or Inconspicuous in awkward situations or when shes spying on another handsome gentleman downtown? . . .God help her. she sticks out like a sore thumb. nonetheless, everyone knew she was street smart.

"Jamie's and my kids wouldn't have an aunt!!" Rico yelled flustered.

"I've been missing all day and all you can think about is Jamie? haha I'm insulted"

Rico glances at Jamie, sticks her nose up and says.

"its bound to happen anyway. right Jamie, my love?"

Jamie smirks.

"In your dreams kid" XD

Riricos had the biggest crush on Namis brother since they met, hes also 50% of the reason why she permanently moved to Hawaii, 25% because of her Job as a Researcher of European studies, their history and literature. and 25% because of her friends.

"Hmph!" Rico turns away from him and wraps her hands on Namis hand so hard it hurt.

"ouch"

"you're freezing cold and dripping wet! get inside, Angel is in your room worrying himself sick. I don't know how to deal with that man." rico whispered.

"I'll tell the coast guard you're here and they can go home" Jamie mentioned as he went down the stairs of the front porch.

"Are you sure? Let me talk to them myself" Nami turned away from ricos grasp and Rico yelled.

"Angel is upstairs Nami!"

"okay, never mind, Jamie, tell them I'm alright. Please get them to leave right away."

"Way ahead of you..."

"but wait a minute ..what?? why does she want them gone so quickly?." Jamie thought as He was running to the shore and talked to a coast guard standing on the opposite far end of the shoreline versus the cliffs.

"Hey Chief, my sister showed up, she came from the water, must have been out surfing"

"In this mornings storm? where is she? she might be hypothermic by now, i can get an ambulance to come out here and take her to the hospital"

"that's alright, we have a nurse inside the house right now. if there's anything wrong with her, we can take her to the hospital ourselves, I'm sorry for the trouble"

"don't mention it kid, your Dad was an awesome guy, was always a big help"

"so is everyone going home now?"

"No, not yet, we got a call about an hour ago saying some kids went up to the cliff diving spot up there and their buddy didn't pop out of the water after his cord broke"

"no way! have they found him yet?"

"nope, the boys are making a perimeter around that area to see if they can find a body"

"hope they find him breathing at least, who knows what else they could find around those cliffs"

...

Miya was drifting off to sleep in the water. she spent all day awake, watching over Nami and hadn't even eaten anything yet.

"I'm hungry. . but i'll wait for Nami so we can eat together"

Suddenly, Miya is startled by a muffled sound of voices and lights dancing about in the water coming from the surface.

"oh no" she scrambled to go behind the rocks underwater but the water was too shallow to go any further and there was nowhere to hide.

then. she saw the lights turn a different direction and took the chance to swim farther away and behind some other larger rocks, she struggled since the waves were so strong it hit her hard against the rocks.

"What are they doing here? didn't Nami tell them shes returned? shouldn't they be leaving?"

and she thought about the worst

"did she really leave me? and send them here to where I'm hiding so they can send me away?"

she whimpered behind the rocks underwater and watched as the blue and red lights flashed and a white light swept the top of the water searching for something.

...

"you'd better talk to him right Nami, He almost beat up my Jamie as to where in gods earth you were, it was a good thing i was already here!! i told him to stay in your room, . .and for some reason he went in without question" ririco said as she handed a towel to Nami and led her upstairs to her room, then they stopped at the door.

Angel heard voices and opened the door, Ririco looked at him and said,

"See? i told you she'd be fine!!"

Angel was a local but he was Filipino and lived in the local Filipino neighborhood somewhere on the island. he stood 5'10 shorter than Jamie but taller than Nami which she didnt care about at all, smooth tan skin like jamie. Manly build, wide chest with humble muscles that come from carrying patients since hes more needed in the I.C.U. at the hospital as a nurse. he had soft, thoughtful dark brown eyes, pierced ears, short black hair combed neatly parted at the side and a patch of hair on his chin, he was supposed to be in the hospital since nami can see hes wearing scrubs.

"Thank you rico, i'll take her downstairs when I've made sure shes fine" Angel glanced at her and led Nami into the room to towel her dry.

"Ku'u lei, I'm sorry" she said in a low voice

"you can explain later, right now, sit down and let me have a look at you" he said without expression.

he wouldn't look at her, but he wrapped another larger towel around her and rubbed her head. Nami could feel his anger, hes just bottling it up, she leans on his chest and says

"thank you for being here"

he wraps his arms around her, then a knock was heard on the door. Angel opens it, rico stood outside with a cup of hot chocolate.

"My honey says the coast guards ask if Nami is okay and if we should take her to the hospital, they are staying around the coast along the cliffs looking for a boy"

Nami gets up with a start

"The cliffs?!"

"duh? i just said so?" rico says in a sarcastic tone.

"whats wrong?" angel asks her.

Nami completely forgot. she left Miya near the cliffs to wait for her, now there are coast guards infesting the waters looking for someone else. but, what if, they found miya instead? Her heart skipped a beat as she thought about it.

"Miya."
