La'Toya POV
I hopped out of the shower and quickly put on my Sunday dress and black flats.
I ran downstairs and greeted my father and mother as she placed our plates filled with bacon, eggs, and toast in front of us.
Ms. Sanders: Where's your sister and brother?
Toya: They're still upstairs. They ate cereal earlier.
Ms. Sanders: Oh well, eat up. Church starts in 30 minutes.
Me and my dad ate as my mom began to clean up the kitchen and get ready to leave.
I picked up my phone to check my messages when my dad began to speak up.
Mr. Sanders: No checking your phone until after church. Today is the Lord's day, Toya.
Toya: Yes daddy...
I sighed and put the phone down and put my empty plate in the sink and walked outside and got in the backseat of our minivan.
I then saw my parents walk outside and get in the front seats followed by my sister, Brittany, and my brother James.
Brittany and James piled into the backseat along with me and buckled up.
*At Church*
I sat on the first pew of the choir stand and watched my father preach to the congregation.
As he preached, I saw a boy walk in the church along with 2 other boys.
They sat at the very back.
One particular guy caught my eye. He was darkskinned, tall, lean, and his hair was braided in cornrows.
I quickly looked away and began to get up to sing the final song for today before church was dismissed.
*Church dismissed, in the parking lot*
I waited impatiently for my dad and mom to get in the car.
James: Man, they always talk after service.
Brittany: Well, he has to. He's the pastor and mom's the first lady.
Brittany was always the mature one...
Toya: I'm just ready to get home.
James: We aren't going straight home today. We're going to 2 more churches today because they're having programs we were invited to attend.
Toya: Ugh...
I laid my head against the window and sighed. Today was going to be a long day.
*Later on that night*
We finally made it home. I quickly rushed upstairs and took a shower and laid on the bed and picked my phone up.
*On the phone*
Toya: I just get tired of church all the time, Cassie.
Cassie: I know, but look, you're 17. You can leave in 1 more year. It'll fly by quickly. I promise.
Toya: I hope so..
I ended the call and looked at the clock beside my bed. 9:30 P.M.
I pulled the covers over me and fell asleep. Tomorrow is Monday, which means school.
