Toya POV
I immediately ran off and made my way to the backyard and sat down on the polka dot lawn chair sitting on the porch.
As I sat there thinking about what just happened, I heard the screen door slide open and out came the boy with the French braids.
I quickly tried to get up, but he spoke up.
?:Ma, ian mean to run you off or nun. I'm sorry. My name's Rakim, Rakim Mayers. All my friends call me Rakim or Rocky.
I sat there and admired his chocolate skin complexion and his perfect white teeth. His French braids stopped at his shoulders and he stood about 6 feet tall.
Rakim: Umm..shorty you alright?
I guess I should have told him my name instead of staring at him...
Toya: Oh sorry...I'm Toya, Toya Sanders.
Rakim: Nice to meet you.
I looked down and he held out his hand.
I stood there for a second before I decided to shake his hand.
Rakim: Uh, can I get yo' number shorty?
Toya: I don't know...
He snickered and bopped his head down for a second and looked back up at me.
Rakim: Really ma?
I thought about it for a second and I reached in my purse and pulled out a pen and wrote my number on a gum wrapper.
Toya: There you go.
Rakim smiled as he read over the number.
Rakim: Ma, ian stupid. Lemme call you right now and see if your phone ring.
He pulled out his iPhone and looked at the piece of paper and dialed the number.
About 3 seconds later, my phone began to ring.
I smirked at him.
Toya: I never said you were stupid, did I?
Rakim: Alright alright. So like, can I see you again?
Toya: I don't think that's a good idea...
Rakim: You got a nigga or sum?
Toya: No, it's just not a good id-
I got cut off by my phone buzzing indicating I had a text message.
-Text Messages-
Cassie: Girl, you think you can catch a ride home? I had to leave early. My mom got rushed to the hospital. I didn't think to get you. I'm sorry.
Toya: Yeah, I'll catch a cab or something.. is she gonna be ok?
Cassie: We're not sure. Don't worry. I'm sorry once again btw.
-End Of Texts-
Toya: Damn...
Rakim: Something wrong?
Toya: My ride left the party. Her mom got sick and she had to go to the hospital...
Rakim: You need a ride or sum? I can drop you off at home if you want...
Toya: No thanks.
Rakim: You sure?
Toya: I'm fine. I'll catch a cab.
I reached in my purse to find some money.
Toya: Please don't tell me I left my wallet in my other purse...
Rakim: Let me give you a ride home.
Toya: No, I'll find a way home.
Rakim: Ma, you gone walk home, seriously?
Toya: Fine. You can take me if you don't mind...
Rakim: Not at all.
