The next day at school I went straight to my locker. My best friend, Sara, went to her locker, which was right beside mine, and she leaned against it.
"You're usually early. How come I got here before you?" she teased.
"Very funny. My dad had a meeting and got home late. I can't wait until I get my drivers license." I said and opened my locker.
"At least you weren't late. You don't always have to come early." said Sara.
"I know," I put my history book in my locker and took my math book out, "but I like to come early."
Sara rolled her eyes. Just then, the bell rang. Everyone rushed off to their classes and the halls were almost empty by the time Sara and I started walking to class. One guy was walking behind us, but I didn't know him. He had brown hair, and beautiful hazelnut eyes. He was quite charming, actually.
"Hello, I'm Cameron Moore. I'm new here, and I don't know where my classes are. I'm supposed to be in math for first period. Would you please lead me to class?" he said with a smile.
"Hi, Cameron, I'm Jennette. I have to be in math too. I'd be glad to take you to class. Follow me. Oh, and tip of advice, around here, we only say our first name when introducing ourselves to someone new." I replied.
He laughed and took my arm like he was escorting me to a dance or something.
"I guess I'll see you at lunch?" said Sara and started walking away.
"I guess. See you." I replied. I looked at Cameron, who was staring randomly off into space, and smiling like he had just seen a unicorn or something. He was handsome, and kind, but he was also kind of strange.
When we got to the classroom, everyone was staring at us. Then I realized Cameron still had my arm, so I pulled away and went to my desk. I watched Cameron as he walked over to some fancy desk that no one else had. He wasn't kind of strange, he was really strange. Something just seemed off about him. Someone hit me in the back and I turned around to see who it was. It was Samantha, my next door neighbor.
"Pay attention!" she snapped. I rolled my eyes and looked at the teacher, who was watching me closely.
I was so relieved when the bell rang for the final time this week. I didn't have to hear that bell again until Monday. On the way out of the building, Sara caught up with me.
"The whole school is talking about you and Cameron being a thing now. What happened when I left you? I mean, you just met the guy, you could've at least waited until tomorrow to date him." she said.
I stopped in my tracks.
"Woah, woah, woah! Back up! We are not a thing! He grabbed my arm when he asked me to lead him to class, I couldn't just tell him he was gross and that I don't like him!" I replied. I definitely did not date creeps like Cameron Moore. Sara rolled her eyes and pulled me so I'd keep walking.
When we reached my house, I said goodbye to Sara and went in to freshen up. Dad had the day off of work, so we were having a father-daughter day. We were going to the park to walk, and then out for supper. I didn't put on anything fancy, just a nice T-shirt and jeans. Dad put on a button up long sleeved shirt and blue jeans. When we were both ready, we walked outside to the vehicle. We both got inside the blue Nissan and buckled up, and we drove away.
