Breakfast with dad didn't go too well. We didn't talk on the way to McDonald's, and we hardly looked at each other when we got there. I should've kept my feelings in like I usually did, telling dad how I felt made things worse than they already were.

When dad and I got home from McDonald's, I called Sara.

"Hello?" Sara answered.

"Hey, Sara! Do you want to do something today?" I asked. I definitely did not want to be at home with dad all day.

"Like what?" she replied.

"I don't know, but I'm stuck at home all day unless you say yes." I was sure Sara wouldn't say yes.

"Fine, yes. But," if I knew Sara, you couldn't get her to say yes that easy, unless there was something she wanted in return, "you have to come to Church with me tonight. Cameron goes to the same Church I do, and, if it means you'll come to Church, we can sit with him."

"Okay, deal. I'll be at your house in ten minutes." I replied then hung up. I put my shoes on then went outside to start walking to Sara's. In about eight minutes, I arrived at her house and rang the doorbell. Sara's mom opened the door with a welcoming smile.

"Hi, Mrs. Danford." I greeted Sara's mother as I walked in her house.

"Hello, Jennette! I didn't know Sara was expecting you! She's in the living room." Mrs. Danford replied.

"Sara and I are going to do something today. I guess she didn't tell you." I said and walked into their living room. Sara smiled when she saw me.

"Did you decide what you wanted to do?" she asked.

"We could go shopping, and to subway for lunch. You want to?" I replied.

"Do I even have to answer that?" Sara said and grabbed her purse, "come on." I smiled and followed after Sara.

Sara and I shopped until twelve-thirty pm and then headed off to subway. I ordered a cold cut with mayonnaise, lettuce, tomato, hot peppers, and salt and pepper. Sara ordered a meatball sub. When we were finished eating, we headed back to Sara's place, then I walked home.

"Where have you been?" dad asked when I walked through the door.

"Like you care." I replied.

"Jennette, I am your father and I have a right to know who you were with and what you were doing." dad was finally parenting me, which was good, but bad at the same time.

"I was with Sara. We went shopping and ate at subway," I replied, "oh, and before you can complain about where I'm going when I walk out the door tonight, I'm going to Church with Sara. While I'm gone, invite a teen girl over and pretend she's your daughter who you love more than you do me. See if I care." I walked up to my room, with dad behind me complaining about my backtalk, or back sass, as he liked to call it.
