"I have to go." I say quickly walking out of Niall's room. I run down the hallway and then down the stairs.

"Jade, where are you going?" Maura asks me.

"I'm going home. Bye." I say.

"Why? You just got here." She questions.

What do I say?

Oh, me and your son were making out and the rest of the group caught us kissing.

Sure let's go with that. I can't say that!

"My father called and asked me to come home." I lied. I hate lying to Maura, she was like a mother to me.

"Alright, then. Tell your parents I said hello."

"Okay. sure will. Bye Maura."

I open the front door and run down the street and into my house.

"What are you doing home so early?" My father asks.

"Just didn't want to be there." I say walking up the stairs.

"Jade, please, come down!" My father shouts.

I run down the stairs and go into the living room where my father is sitting on the couch watching some irrelevant show.

"Yeah?" I ask picking up the control and start looking through the channels.

"What happened?"

"Nothing I told you I didn't want to be there. That's it." I drop the control back on the couch as I watch a re-run of Doctor Who.

"Okay if that's what you say." He gives up trying to talk about the situation.

I see my father get up and walk over to his office, leaving me all alone in the living room.

I was alone for about five minutes until he came back and stood behind the couch I was sitting at.

"Get your things." My father says sternly.

"What? Why?" I ask confused.

"Get your things you are leaving. Now."

What! He can't just make me come to Ireland and then kick me out!

"But why?" I ask tears forming in my eyes.

"Because." Was all my dad said.

"Because you are getting your own flat and car!" He said throwing me a pair of keys.

Oh my god! Thank you dad!" I shout running over to him and hugging him.

"What's going on?" My mother's voice rang through my ears.

She stares at me and my father until we explain.

"Jade is moving out. I bought her a new car and a flat for herself." My father explains.

"My own flat! My own car! Mom do you know what this means?"

"It means that your father is spoiling you." She sneers.

"No. It means I trust to be a responsible adult. Go pack your things and I'll take you over to your flat."

I run up the stairs and run into my room getting my suitcases open. I grab my phone and call Amy.

"Hello?" Amy answers.

"You will not believe what just happened!"

"What?"

"My dad got me a brand new car and bought me my own flat! My own car and flat! Can you believe it!"

"Oh my god! I'll be over so I can go with you to your flat."

She hung up and I stuffed more of my clothes into my suitcases.

"Jade! Amy is here!" I hear my father shout.

"Let her up please!" I shout back at him.

As I zip up my fourth suitcase I hear screeching form behind me. I turn and see Amy jumping up and down.

"Can you imagine me in my own flat?"

"Yeah. Oh my god you can throw kick ass parties now."

"No parties. No boys. Nothing. Except for you and Amy and other friends. But that is it." We hear my father say from the hallway.

"Now I have a place to stay when I come and visit again."

I look over at Amy and she looks over at me with sad eyes.

"What's wrong?" I ask.

"Nothing. It's just I thought you and your family came back to stay. I didn't think you were going back to California." She says, fiddling with her thumbs.

"Oh. Well it depends on what college I get accepted into."

"Did you apply to college here at home?"

"Duh. I mean , why wouldn't I? It was the first college I applied to!"

"Which one did you apply to?" She asks.

"I applied for Trinity College Dublin."

"Liar! You applied for the University of Dublin!"

"Yeah, why are you so excited?"

"Because I applied there also!"

Oh my god me and my best friend might go to the same college!

"Help me take these down will you, please?" I ask pointing at the suitcases.

"Yeah, sure. I can't wait to see your new place!"
