The cab driver drives past the sign that reads “Welcome to Sunrise Beach”.  20 minutes had passed and now I am standing on a stoned driveway examining the unfamiliar house that looked back at me. I looked at my brother and all the suitcases and duffle bags we brought. We are still standing mesmerized by how big our dad’s mansion is. It’s so beautiful! We heard our dad’s voice coming from inside “Carrie and Junior is that you?” He comes out the front door with a huge smile. “You've guys have grown so much!” He gives us each a giant bear hug. “Dad we just saw you a couple of months ago” I laughed. “That’s still a long time for me” he rebutted. Dad and Mom divorced a few years back and for some reason, out of the blue she decided to ship us off to live with dad for the years to come. “Don’t worry about your bags Jefferson will come and pick them up for you”. “You have a butler! Cool!!” Junior exclaimed.   Dad smiled. “Grandma will be home soon she is just running some errands” he said. Grandma Valley is so much fun to be around. She really is the best Grandma! “Here let me show you a tour of the house” Dad offered.

After the tour of the whole mansion Dad showed Junior and I to our rooms to unpack. “Wow this room is so awesome!” I expressed. The big windows in my room opened up to view the ocean and the beach we live on.  Junior walked into his room and went “This is so sweet!” Our rooms are beside each other. After unpacking everything Junior and I went down to the kitchen. “Grandma”! Junior excitedly said. He ran and gave her a hug.  “Hey sweetie”! She said and then said “And if it isn’t Caribbean!” Grandma came and gave me a hug as well. “Hi Grandma”! Caribbean Blue is my full name. But everyone calls me Carrie, except for Grandma. “It’s so great to see you both!” “You too Grandma!” we both said. “Why don’t we go out for supper tonight” Dad suggested walking into the room. We all agreed.

We all got dressed up and headed out to Blue Islanders. It’s a restaurant named after by my dad. My dad Orlando Blue is a famous television director and screenwriter. His most famous show is called Blue Islanders so that’s why it’s called that. We walked along the beach. It was such a great day out. My light brown hair waved silently through the air, as my ocean blue eyes sparkled from the reflection of the sun. My brother Junior has light brown hair as well and blue eyes. After a 10 minuet beach walk we were at Blue Islanders. We sat outside at the Hawaiian tables overlooking the ocean. I spotted some people surfing in the distance. I guess dad caught me looking and said “It’s quite fun”. “Huh” I said.  “Surfing, I can buy you a board if you want to learn” he said, in between bites of salad. “Yeah that would be cool thanks!” I smiled. “Can I learn how to too?” Junior asked. “Of course bud!” Dad replied. “I’ll give you both money for board and back to school shopping tomorrow” Dad said. We both said thank you and continued eating. The day after tomorrow I’ll be starting my first day of Sunrise Academy. It goes from grades 7-12. I am going into grade 11 and Junior is going into grade 9. I’m excited and nervous about going to a new school since I know nobody and they are already a week into school. But I guess like parents would say “Don’t worry you’ll make new friends!” I just hope I blend in enough. After dinner we walked back to the house and Junior and I sat down and watched our favorite drama tv show The Fosters. By the time that was over it was time for bed. Dad came to tuck us in. “Goodnight Carrie and Junior”. “Night Dad, Thanks for everything” we both said.  He then turned off the light. The only source of light was coming from the moon and the only form of sound I could hear was the movement of ocean waves crashing on the shore. It was so relaxing. It felt like a live white noise machine. Listening to the waves as I drifted off into a deep sleep.

I was suddenly jolted awake. I looked at my alarm clock. It read 3:30 am. I looked out my window, wondering what could of wakened me I squinted my eyes and saw a boat riding on the water. I could just make out 2 figures on the boat. It had to be too male. I wonder what they were doing out so late. I closed my window and jumped back into bed. The sounds of waves put me to sleep again. I decided I would tell Dad about the boat in the morning.
