After the Aquarium, Junior and I walked back home.  Dad was not back from work yet but Jefferson was preparing dinner for us. “Hey Jefferson” Junior said when we walked into the kitchen. “Good evening Junior and Carrie your father is out for dinner with a business partner so it would just be us tonight” Jefferson said. “Okay who’s his business partner?” I asked.  “He didn’t say but he said he was meeting her at Blue Islanders for dinner” Jefferson said.  Junior and I looked at each other. I can tell we were both thinking the same thing but we were both hoping it wasn’t true. To change the subject Junior asked, “So what’s for dinner?” “Spaghetti and Meatballs” Jefferson said.

After dinner we told Jefferson we were going to go out surfing. We got our boards and went outside. We both stayed silent for a minute and Junior brought up what was on both of our minds. “You don’t think Dad’s business partner is actually his you know what partner?” Junior asked. “I’m not sure, we can’t jump to conclusions yet but there is only on way to find out” I said. “And what would that be?” We’re going to Blue Islanders.” I said.

When we arrived at Blue Islanders we made a plan. “Okay so Dad will probably be outside where we were sitting so we have to be very cautious of where he would and would not be able to spot us.” I said. “Okay so what do we do?” Junior asked. “Follow me” I instructed.  We saw Dad and this girl sitting on one of the Hawaiian tables outside like I said he would be. There was a tree nearby the restaurant and close enough for us to see them and not get caught. Junior followed me and we hid behind the tall palm tree. I went to the side and Junior went on the other side to get a better look. We didn’t hear what they were saying but we did hear them both laughing. The girl he was with was batting her eyelashes and laughing at everything he said. Not just any laugh though, the flirty laugh. She then put her hand on his hand and they leaned in and kissed. Not just any kiss but full on lip smack kiss. It disgusted me. Junior and I both turned around so were on the back of the palm tree beside each other. Our hearts were pounding. “Oh my gosh, did you see that?” I asked. “Unfortunately yes, that will defiantly put me in a lifetime worth of therapy” Junior said. I guess he was disgusted as well. We saw enough of this business date so we secretly walked back to the house. Thankfully Dad didn’t see us at all. We are now at the beach that my house is on. “I can’t believe Dad has a girlfriend” Junior said. “Me neither I didn’t even think it was possible for him to date at this age” I said. “Well don’t we want him and mom back together?” Junior asked. “Of course we do but I don’t think it’s going to be easy” “It never is, is it, and now that Dad is dating someone it’s probably impossible for them to be together again” Junior said. “Well we can always” I didn’t finish what I was going to say. “Always what?” Junior asked. “Try and break up Dad and his business partner, but I know I shouldn’t even think that and plus Dad doesn’t even know that we know he is dating someone so we can’t say anything until he is ready to introduce her” I said. “Okay well we can’t judge her yet until we’ve met her so once Dad thinks we are ready to meet her we will go from there” Junior proposed. “Sounds like a plan” I agreed. We then went into the water and practice our surfing.  The waves were really nice that day. The water was cold but refreshing to swim in. There were a few other people out on the water as well.  I was on my board just relaxing and I saw a wave coming. I got up on my board and surfed the wave as best as I could. Unfortunately I didn’t take it on as good and I fell off my board and landed in the water. “Whoa are you okay?” I heard a voice ask as I came up from under the water. It wasn’t Junior since he was further away from me. My eyes came to focus and I saw who it was in front of me. Ryder Bloomwood. “Yeah I’m okay” I said searching for my board. Ryder saw it and got it for me. “Thanks” I said climbing back on it. Ryder was sitting on his board as well. Ryder smiled at me and I smiled back. “So you surf?” he asked. “Yeah but I’m only just starting” I blushed. I can see Junior watching as we talk from a distance. “Well you’re not that bad! if you need any help or tips on surfing I’ll be glad to teach you” Ryder offered. “Oh thanks that’d be great actually” I said. Ryder smiled. “Hey Ryder we gotta go! What are you doing over there?” one of Ryder’s buddies called out. “Just talking, I’ll be right there!” Ryder yelled back over the water. He then looked at me and said, “Well I better get going but maybe we can do that lesson thing sometime soon”. “Okay” I said shyly. Ryder smiled and waved bye as he went down on his board and swam away, I smiled and waved bye as well. Why does he have to be so perfect? I thought.  I went down on my board so I’m on my stomach. I looked at the ruffles of water occurring. I love being on the water. The sun glowing bright giving off a soft warm glow reflecting on the clear blue ocean creating shadows from people and nature, it’s quite beautiful I find. I then saw Junior coming up to me. He is getting really good at surfing. I watched him surf a couple of waves and he mastered them perfectly. Junior came right up beside me and asked, “So what were you and surf tomato guy talking about?” “Why are so you interested?” I asked laughing. “Oh come on” he said knowing what I think about Ryder. “Nothing really I guess he just offered to give me surf lessons if I would like them” I said answering his question from before. “Awe he doesn’t want to teach you surfing he wants something else if you know what I’m thinking” Junior laughed. “Ew!  Junior, you’re gross!” I said splashing water at him. This turned into a whole water fight. I have to say I won; I knocked him off his board a couple of times. I only fell off once. Our water fight game finally calmed down and we swam back to shore. We walked on the beach and from the balcony of the butler’s room Jefferson came outside. “Young Carrie and Young Junior your father is back and would like it if you would come inside” Jefferson said. He then walked back into his room. “I wonder what’s so important” I said. Junior and I looked at each other. We had those brotherly and sisterly telepathic moments and we knew that what we both were thinking is about to come true in just a few moments. We started to run to the house. “Do you think?” Junior asked. “I certainly hope not” I said. We opened the glass doors from the back of the house and walked in towards the living room. And there with my Dad was the girl we saw him with at Blue Islanders. Junior and I looked at each other giving each other the look of “Uh oh”. “Oh great you guys are here” Dad said and continued with saying “Carrie and Junior I’d like you to meet my business partner Cruella De Ville” he said. Okay so her name isn’t actually Cruella De Ville but it might as well have been. Her name is actually Vivian Matting. She’s blonde and thinks she is perfect and owns my Dad. “It’s nice to meet you” Junior and I both tried to say as nice as possible. “Of course it is!” Vivian said. Dad didn’t say she was his girlfriend yet only his business partner.

“I’m going to get a glass of wine, don’t miss me” she said and walked into the kitchen. She was practically all over my Dad. He seemed like he was enjoying it which made it even worse than it actually is. “So does Vivian work on your show?” Junior asked. “Yes she is the assistant to the director” Dad explained. “How long has she been working on the show?” I asked. “For almost 3 years” Dad said. Blue Islanders is now going into a fourth season.  Junior and I looked at each other. We think we know why Dad and Mom divorced now. They told us it was complicated but never really explained what really happened. Junior and I now have an idea why. Vivian came back into the room with two wine glasses. She gave one to Dad. “Come on Boppy Blue we have some work to do” she said. “Bobby  Blue” I whispered to Junior. He shrugged and laughed.  “Let’s go outside on the lawn chairs” Dad said. She then dragged him away from us.  We waited a couple of minutes until they sat down. We then decided to spy on them again. We stayed close to the door that goes out where the lawn chairs are but we made sure we can’t be seen. They were all lovey dovey on the lawn chairs and then they started to talk. They brought paper work etc. I couldn’t hear everything they said. But what I did hear was when Vivian asked “So your kids don’t know well you know?” She moved her fingers through my Dad’s hair. And my Dad said “Nope not a clue”. He smiled then they started making out. It was very disturbing and the sight was burning my eyes. Junior and I walked away. “Ah my eyes” he said while rubbing them, I was doing the same. “This is like a soap opera” I said. Junior laughed. “So are we going to do something about Vivian?” Junior asked. “Were definitely going to do something about Cruella” I said.
