The bell rang, and everyone came out in the bland, black and white P.E. Uniforms spilled out into the gym, talking and laughing. Conner's eyes darted around the room, trying to find a friendly face. The Sparkle Tarts were still in the locker room, because it always took them extra long to do their hair.

Then, out of the corner of his eye, Conner saw a girl. She was average height, with dark skin and curly hair. She had brown eyes that sparkled with hope, and a bright smile. She seemed nice. Conner slowly made his way to the girl, and sat down on the floor next to her, flashing a smile.

"Hey!" She sang.
"Hi! I'm Conner Mckinley." He was getting used to introducing himself now.
"Well hello, Conner! I'm Nabulungi. But my friends just call me Naba." She said with a chuckle.
"What a nifty name!" Conner complimented.

Naba smiled. "Aw, thanks! So, I haven't seen you around before! Are you new, possibly?"
"Yes, actually."
Naba brushed her hair behind her ear.
"Cool! Have you made any other friends?"

Then, perfectly timed, the Sparkle Tarts loudly plopped next to Conner, singing and giggling.
"That'd be us!" Poptarts said, waving. After the introductions, everybody seemed to click.

Olly was resting his head on Ben's lap, and Ben played with Olly's hair. "So, Naba, do you have any crushes?" He said, sneakily.

Naba's face immediately flushed.
"Well..."
"C'mon! We won't judge!" Church insisted.
Nabulungi giggled. "There's this one guy-"
"Kevin?!" Chris interrupted.
Naba made a icky face. "Ew, No! That guy?" She joked with a playful chuckle.
Conner's eyes widened and nervously chuckled with the group.
Nabulungi crossed her arms. "Just kiddin', he's alright. But he seems like a weasel. The guy I like is in the space club."

"The space club?" Olly sang curiously.
"Yeah... His name's Arnold Cunningham."
"That guy?!" Ben joked. "I mean, he's not the prettiest flower in the patch, but-"
"But he's so sweet! And smart... And..." Naba trailed off, blushing.
The boys smiled in response. Naba's heart was pure and unbreakable, and everyone knew that.

She sighed. "Well... What about you guys?"
Ben patted Olly on the back. "Who needs a crush when you have the cutest boyfriend in the world?" He remarked, making Oliver blush. "Hah... yeah..." He sang, smiling.

"What about you, Church?" Conner asked.
Church looked at Chris and became flustered.
"Oh... uh... just some guy."
"C'mon, tell us!" Chris insisted.
"Fine." The frantic kid agreed.
"His name is..." He looked around the room. "Mat...Floor...Hoop."
"Matt Floorhoop? Who names their child Matt Floorhoop?" Ben teased, snorting.

Chris' heart fell. "Oh... He sounds nice."
Deep down, quite coincidentally, Chris Thomas and James Church loved each other with a passion. They were just both too afraid to confess, in spite of losing their friendship.

There was a moment of silence.

"Ahem. Well... Where's the coach, anyway?" Conner questioned.
"Ah. Free day. We can do whatever!" Naba answered.
"Oh! Sweet!"
The friends talked and talked until the bell rang once again, and they parted until they'd reunite at end of the day.
