After swimming for about two hours; my feet are sore from the water hitting against them; I reach the island. Wet.

I look for some fire wood to make a fire. I go into a little forest and find some branches on the grown. My ten-year-old feet stumble over a root and I drop all the wood. I pick them up and go out of the forest. I lay the wood on the grown and bash some rocks together. A flame begins and before I know it, there is a fire.

I look at the water and look far out and see the ship almost sunk. I watch it until there is nothing to be seen.

The sun starts to set. I go make a fishing pole and try to catch some fish before it gets to dark.

I see something in the water. But it is getting to dark to see what it is. It starts to come out of the water and I back up.

The spirit comes out of the water. Its my mother.

"M-mom?" I stammer.

She smiles at me and nods her head.

"Are you a ghost?" I ask.

She looks at me and does not answer.

"I'm so proud of you. You found shelter." She said smiling.

"Is dad okay?" I ask.

She signs and looks at the sand.

Tears stream down my face.

So many questions are bobbling in my head. But I can't ask them. She is gone.
