I fell

It all started when I went to school. As usual, my best, and only, friend rang the bell at 7:20 am.

"Hey, Ro be right out!" I called through the door and quickly packed up my drawing and stuffed them into my backpack together with some pencils and a sandwich.

"Bye, Mom. Bye, Dad. Bye, Siri." I yelled back and opened the door, just to laugh at my little sister's remark like every morning.

"I am not Siri. I just have straight A's and am gifted in some classes. Geez."

"Yeah and that's why you're ten and in eighth grade." I mocked and closed the door.

"Same old routine." Ro smiled. His real name is Robert but my nickname for him is and always will be Ro. Just like my name is Melanie, which I hate, and his nickname for me is Mel and has never changed.

"Yep, and you're still late." I gave back with my 'famous', devilish smile and gave him a friendly shove.

"Come on, or we're both gonna be late for school."

As we made our way to the bus stop I had a weird feeling of someone watching me and I instantly moved a little closer to Ro.

"You okay?" he asked and eyed me from the side.

"What? Oh, yeah, yeah. Sorry." I combed my side banks to the side, a gesture I always do when I'm nervous or I did something embarrassing.

"You don't look okay..." he pushed.

"Ugh, why do you know me so well?" I answered, avoiding the actual question. As usual it helped.

"I don't know maybe because we have been friend for over eight years now?" he laughed and I joined in, trying to sound casually. Of course, he looked right through me.

"No, you can't fool me. What's wrong?" he said stopping, putting his hands on my shoulders, and making me face him. He propped his left eyebrow in expectation.

"I don't know. I just have a crazy feeling that someone is watching me... us.... I don't know." I said helpless. When he just looked at me, probably trying to make sense of what I just told him, I sighed.

" Come on, we're gonna miss the bus." I turned away and continued walking towards the bus stop. Ro waited a little bit watching me before shaking his head and catching up.

"Maybe it's just a phase." he guessed when he was walking at my pace again.

"Ha, yeah. Maybe." I smiled at his wild ideas. He and his weird brain was the reason I'm drawing and am so good at it. He gave me an idea and I have to draw it. That's the activity after school almost every day. I have a whole folder with drawing from over the past five years and I have never thrown away a single drawing even if it's as horrible as it can be.

"See I got you to smile." he said with satisfaction and laughed when I clapped.

"Yeah, you go boy! You go!" I whooped and laughed, while skipping in front of him. I turned around and tried to skip backwards while facing Ro but then I tripped and probably would've fallen on my head if somebody wouldn't have caught me.

I squealed surprisingly and turned my head to see the person who spared me a bruise on the back of my head. I saw a weirdly familiar face but couldn't remember where I met him before. He had a fierce but nice face with sharp edges that made him look dangerous. He had a scar that went from the bottom of his lip and continued down to his neck. His eyes were a nice dark green with a little bit of brown in them and somehow I saw pictures in them. Not my reflection like in some people's eyes but pictures that took place in a whole different environment. I don't know how and I don't know why but I couldn't look away. There was a girl but I couldn't quite make out her face. She had a beautiful blue dress that was unbelievably thin but covered her whole body. She was running like she was being chased and then there were these things. They weren't human but they weren't animal either. One of them had a human head with a silver beak and had eight, hairy, and creepy legs like a spider. The other one had a lion body with snake head and both of them had red eyes and were moving inhumanly fast. Then there was another guy with a gun and a knife in his pocket but I couldn't make his face out either. He shot one of the things, the one with the spider legs, and was running after the lion. He didn't notice that the spider-human-thing stood up again with a huge hole where his heart should've been, tumbled for a second, then shook his head and began running again. Suddenly his eyes turned back to their color and I came back to reality.
