The war was finished four decades ago, but the battle never ended.
He gave a bloodthirsty grin before it was gone in a split second, replaced by a gentle smile instead. Some of the vampires gave him a suspicious stare, but they continued with their earlier conversation while glancing at him from time to time.
He inwardly cackled, these vampires will surely loathe the day the Hunters invented this revolutionary potion.
'Some prophecies were never meant to be fulfilled.'

Demesicus laughed with his friends until he caught sight of one of his old friends.
"Excuse me gentlemen, but I have an old friend to talk to." He grinned. Alastair look at the direction that he was looking at and he too, grinned.
"I'll catch up with you later." He patted Demesicus' shoulder good naturedly and then went back to talking with his other friends.
The King walked to the direction of his friend, looking graceful even when he has a baby in his arms. Well, a beautiful baby. He stopped from time to time to acknowledge the other guests' greetings with a nod and a smile. When he reached his desired destination, he plastered on a fake scowl.
"How dare you show your face here after 5 years of no contact!" he said. His friend jumped and turned around, only seeing him frustrated with a curious baby.
"Yeah, well, you know how my family's always attracted trouble." He smiled sheepishly. "I sometimes think someone cursed us or something for a silly reason."
"Don't try running away from me this time, Frederick Ellson." Demesicus growled.
It was tense for a few seconds until Frederick broke down in laughter, the King soon joining. Alex, who was wondering at what was happening, decided to pull on Frederick's beard. He doesn't have anyone's attention on him.
"Ow, ow, ow, ow. Stop, okay. I get it now. Not even a full day of being born and you already brainwashed your son." Frederick grumbled as he rubbed his sore chin.
"That's for no contact in 5 years." Demesicus retorted.
It was silent for a moment.
"So how does it feel, being a father now after 30 years of trying?" Frederick asked softly.
"Was this how you felt when your oldest was born?" the King sighed wistfully. "It's sinking in. But this is a dream come true. To be a father, even though I knew this 9 months ago. But then I realized that as a parent, I am going to be responsible of this little one's life." He whispered.
"You've been responsible with the lives of all the vampires, pureblood or not." He glanced at his friend, who was cuddling with Alex, as if afraid that he was going to lose him the moment he loosened his grip.
"Being responsible with the lives of the general population is different from being responsible with the life of your own flesh and blood. Because for me, neglecting the responsibility of parenthood is a grave sin."
As the King entered his own little world, little Alex was already asleep not so long ago. Frederick caught the eye of someone and he smiled at him.
"I think we need to give your son to your wife, Demesicus. The little tyke's already asleep." He pointed out, snapping the King out of his reverie.
"What? Oh, you're right. Sorry for spacing out there."
Demesicus was then walking to the direction of his wife, but then a servant that has an eyepatch on the left side of his face blocked his path and bowed.
