The storm was raging that night. The weather was the same when the prophecy was told. Of course, they have double meanings. The literal meaning of the words used is never applied when prophecies are involved.
Look underneath the underneath, the Oracle said.
And now was the most important moment of the lives of the majority of the creatures present. The creatures were of higher authority. They have the privilege of witnessing the miracle that was happening in the stormy night.
Most of the creatures turned their eyes to the blessed being that once again opened her mouth,
He who is born in the calm before the storm;
He who would not judge, but who would accept;
He who would bring peace to all three;
He who would save us all.
The prophecy needs to be heard by the people involved, after all.
More than half of them started at this. That was the first time any of them heard a prophecy that was actually easy to understand, comparing it to the ancient ones that was still not fulfilled. Yes, it was vague, but for them even an idiot can understand this.
While some of them were suspicious. It was not normal for a prophecy to be that... informative. They never heard anything like that happening. Of course, those who are suspicious have decades more experience than the ones who were astonished.
They suspect that the outcome of the event still taking place this night will be interesting, to say the least.
Nonetheless, they took it all in stride. In their world, nothing was impossible.
They all averted their eyes from the Oracle in the middle of the ballroom to stare at the locked door in the second floor when the bloodcurdling screams of the Lady Militia started. The Queen was probably holding her screams until she can't take the pain anymore. It was the middle of the night, where their race is in their prime. Nonetheless, pushing a baby out of you will still hurt like a bitch even when they were conditioned to endure pain since they were a child.
They waited in what seems like an eternity, but it was just two hours. They lived for centuries, what was two hours to them? Then the screaming stopped. They dared not listen to what exchange was happening inside the room. They could do it when they wanted to, but they have no desire to have the punishment that awaited them when they failed to resist the urge to listen in. Lord Demesicus was protective like that.
The doors suddenly opened and they were disappointed that it was the midwife who came out of the said room, not the respected Lord and Lady.
"Our beloved rulers had asked me to announce the state of our prince." She started.
"The prince is a healthy and handsome baby, but that is to be expected seeing as whom his parents are. Lady Militia is understandably tired from delivering the royal baby, but they will come out and greet us with smiles on their faces while announcing to the world that the prince of the vampire race is born!" She finished with a grin on her face. It was uncharacteristic of her to grin while making an announcement for the royal couple. But this night, this joyous night, they have a reason to rejoice.
All the vampires present cheered.
The birth of an heir to their royal family happens once in every 4-5 centuries. A vampire is lucky when he or she witnesses the birth of the royal baby, but you are even luckier when you were born the same year (more or less) as the prince or princess.
Just then, the doors slammed open silencing the cheering crowd immediately. The royal couple walked out of the room where the Queen delivered the prince, and in the aforementioned woman's arms was a bundle in a blue silk blanket. The King beckoned her to pass their son to him and she did so, gently unwrapping the blanket from the baby's head revealing the black locks and then passing him to her husband. Lord Demesicus raised his arms and in doing so raised the baby so the crowd would see their pride and joy.
"And thus, a new chapter of our journey begins! The Child of the Prophecy, the Chosen One, our son! All hail Prince Alexandrius Christopher Tepes!" the Lord announced.
The crowd roared and chanted the prince's name. As if understanding what was happening, Alex laughed, his red eyes disappearing from view as he reached out chubby hands to the crowd. The action made the women below coo at the cuteness of the prince, while the mother of said baby puffed out her chest in pride as she realized that she and her beloved husband were the ones who created the adorable baby.
In their festive spirit, they forgot to mention the problems the first line of the prophecy might bring.
He who is born in the calm before the storm.
