weekends were pure bliss for luke.
most of the time they meant that he could stay in and do nothing. something he loved doing.
usually, he'd sleep until the afternoon. when he woke up, he'd either order cereal from room service or make his own bowl of cereal, depending on where they were at the time.
this time he could make his own.
the band went on a break for some time, meaning for luke, it'd feel like a neverending weekend. that is until they continue with their next album.
luke was 100% drained.
touring hundreds of cities took the life out of him.
he was bored of it. all of it.
in the beginning, he loved doing what he was doing. his career was his passion, and the only thing he wanted to do.
but that's probably what made him so depressed. he never had time to care for himself. he had always put his career and his fans first, he never had the time or the energy for self management.
the rest of the day was a drag. he spent most of it watching grey's anatomy on netflix and scrolling mindlessly through twitter.
by 6 o'clock, he was starving.
he was tired of room service, and he felt deprived of fresh air, so he decided to get some food outside of the hotel.
after throwing on some skinny jeans, a black t-shirt, and a flannel-his signature attire-he made his way to the elevator.
coincidentally, he bumped into harley again, who looked as if she had just come back from running errands.
"oh, sorry." he mumbled, stepping out of her way. "it's fine." she said, smiling slightly at the towering boy.
"i was just about to head out to get some dinner." he continued, indirectly inviting her to tag along.
secretly, he hoped she'd say yes. he thought she was interesting, and he truly, honestly wanted to befriend her. something he's never wanted with a total stranger. especially a girl.
"oh, that's cool." she said, backing up slowly. "i was actually going to make dinner tonight." she added.
"oh wow, i haven't had a homemade dinner in forever." he replied, reminiscing of home and his mom's spaghetti and meatball marinara meals and her homemade meatloaf recipes.
"you could join me if you want. i don't really have company often. it'd be a nice change for once." she smiled, gesturing towards her suite.
luke smiled at the thought.
for once, someone genuinely wanted to hang out with him, and probably not for his fame or his money. just for the sake of having some friendly conversation.
"yeah, i guess that'd be okay." he said, following the girl.
"that's great." she smiled, sliding her key card on the door handle, then forcefully pushing the door open.
"sorry for the mess. i really wasn't expecting to have visitors."
luke inspected her living area. it was full of the usual hotel room decor, but some boxes gathered at the corner, and frames with pictures of harley and her family and friends were clustered on some of the tables surrounding the room.
harley's definition of a mess sure didn't compare to the pigsty luke was living in.
"it's fine. it's not that bad anyways!" he laughed.
"so i was going to make spaghetti with meatballs for myself, but if you don't like that i could make something else, i think." harley said, searching through her cupboards.
"no that's great, i love spaghetti and meatballs." luke said. in fact, he spent the whole day craving it.
"awesome!" harley exclaimed.
luke chuckled, watching the barely 5'6 girl jump as she tried to reach for the tomato sauce placed way too high for her reach.
"wait, wait, let me help you." he said, sliding off the bar stool. he easily reached for the can and handed it to her. "wow thanks, it must be fun being a giant." she laughed.
he shrugged in reply.
as harley prepared the ingredients, she thought of things to talk about.
like what's his full name, what does he do for a living, and who all those guys were in the elevator. she did have a vague idea who they could be, but she just wasn't sure.
"you know, i probably should have thought about that fact that you could be a serial killer before i invited you into my home." harley joked. "likewise."
"hemmings." luke said. "my surname is hemmings."
"damn, that's why you look so familiar."
"aren't you in that punk band 5 seconds of summer or something like that?" she asked. he nodded, "yeah, that's basically my life."
he was so thankful she wasn't freaking out. finally, someone who treated him like he was a normal guy.
"king." she said, mocking the tone in his voice. "harley king."
"yeah, it's actually harley quinn king, but i'd rather not have people think i'm some crazy super villain or something." she joked.
"i don't think you're a crazy super villain." luke replied, "well, not yet at least."
"thanks, i think."
