after a long night, luke finally left harley's suite.

he felt accomplished because for the first time, he was an open book. not about everything, though. some chapters he kept to himself.

and for the first time he finally got to really know someone. someone other than the other boys.

but he was still sad. he felt like this was just a one time thing. he knew it was a long shot that he would ever get better. he felt like he was on a winding road of mood swings.

at times, he felt on top of the world. others, he felt like the heaviest weight was left on his shoulders.

he felt like everyone depended on him 24/7, and with one wrong move everything could just fall to pieces.

after taking his pill, he thought about everything. this was the worst. his thoughts kept him up most of the time, aside from the pill.

but whenever he couldn't sleep at all, he'd write songs or play his guitar.

the other boys would get annoyed whenever they had to sleep on the tour bus together, because he'd always be strumming his guitar at 3 a.m. but luke didn't care.

nothing, not even his pill, could make him feel better.

"hey fucker! wake up!"

luke groaned at the sound of shrill screams across the room. he hated mornings. all he wanted to do was sleep in.

"get out, ashton." he hissed, throwing a pillow across the room, missing ashton completely.

"not until you wake up," ashton replied, throwing himself on the bed with a running start. "the buffet started!" he exclaimed.

"i don't care." luke groaned, turning away from the curly haired boy. "well, if you don't get up now, i'm forced to open these curtains." ashton said, standing up from the bed and walking towards the windows. "if you open those curtains i will shaved your head in your sleep." luke threatened, his voice in a serious tone.

ashton whimpered, backing off.

"fine, i guess i'll just have to eat your breakfast for you."

talk about a rude awakening.

soon, luke was all alone in his room.

he didn't bother getting up to put on clothes. he wasn't hungry at all. just tired.

after 20 minutes, which felt more like hours, of staring at the blank ceiling, he decided to text harley, since they exchanged numbers the night before. he smiled at her contact name. 'harley quinn', even though that probably wasn't her actual name.

luke: are you awake?

he threw his phone to the side of him, sitting up from his unmade bed. he suddenly felt the cold air press against him. he instantly regretted ever leaving the warmth of his blanket.

he stood up, making his way to the closet in the room to find a new pair of sweatpants and a t-shirt.

he took a quick shower before grabbing his phone again to see if she replied.

harley quinn: of course, couldn't miss the free buffet.

he laughed at her reply. suddenly he was hungry after all.

luke: is it still going on?

he had hoped for a yes. he really felt like some waffles at the moment.

harley quinn: lucky for you, you have 30 minutes.

he felt an instant relief. slipping on his vans and grabbing a jacket at the same time, he dashed for the elevator, pressing the button several times as if it would make it move any faster.

by the time he reached the buffet, harley was already sitting at a table, alone.

"i made it." he said, pulling up a chair across from harley, who was sipping her cup of coffee.

"took you long enough." she said, stuffing a bagel into her mouth.

"it took me a long time to get out of bed." he shrugged. "i'm gonna go get food."

"you do that." she laughed. "yes, i will." he said, with a small smile.

the whole place had cleared out by the time luke was almost done eating.

he ate slowly, so he would have an excuse to talk to harley.

"why didn't you eat with your friends?" harley asked curiously.

luke shrugged.

"i'm with them all the time. i think some time away is greatly needed." he said, thinking of how long they've been together. "i understand how you feel, that's exactly how i felt about my family." harley replied, "well, they're my family, but sometimes you just need some time on your own." she said, resting her head on her hand.

luke nodded in agreement.

"how about your family?" luke asked. "what do you mean?" harley questioned. "why did you feel like you needed to move half way across the country to get away?" he asked.

"well for one, they're still on my ass if that's what you're worried about, so moving half way across the country is a lot better than half way across the city." she laughed, "well, i felt so suffocated." she shrugged. that was only half the truth.

"and i also moved because i was offered this internship and i felt like it was an open window of opportunity for me. for a lot of things."

she wouldn't tell him the whole truth. for now at least.
