luke hated life so much as he slumped in his seat, pouting. the fact that the boys actually invited harley didn't help one bit. he felt flustered. he was kind of intimidated by her, since he thought she was so pretty.

sure, being a celebrity he's met tons of pretty girls, but harley seemed to be from a whole other world.

he sat in his seat with his arms crossed, staring out the window.

they were stuck in traffic and the boys were singing horribly, at the top of their lungs.

harley gave him a friendly nudge, but it still wasn't enough to change his mood. she decided to text him since he obviously wouldn't hear the sound of her voice over the loud music.

harley: why so sad lucas

his phone buzzed in his hand, his eyes glancing at the text message. he reluctantly picked up the phone in his large hand, replying to the message.

luke: not sad just don't want to be here

he pressed the send button, then locking his phone and tossing it to the space between them.

harley quickly typed a response.

harley: i thought you liked me :-(

he frowned at the message.

of course he liked her. but he wasn't sure in which way he liked her.

luke: of course i like you...

harley: good bc if you didn't i wouldn't want to be here either

he smiled a little at this.

luke: that's nice to know

harley: yeah i guess

harley: where are we going anyways

luke: idk

harley: well that's reassuring. how do i know you aren't going to take me to an abandoned warehouse and murder me

luke: who knows we might

harley: great, at least i'll be famous when i die

"why don't you two just, you know, talk?" michael suggested, his head craning over us. luke huffed, flicking the back of his head, resulting in a little wince of pain from the bleach-haired boy.

this is going to be a long night, harley thought to herself.

luke didn't enjoy parties very much. neither did harley.

since luke was diagnosed with depression at a young age, it kept him from doing a lot of things, and finding joy in those things.

while harley just didn't find interest in things girls her age liked.

so for most of the night, they stuck to each other at the corner of the room. harley had a few drinks, and it was luke's job to take care of her, since he had to be sober.

whenever he went to parties, he was always the dad of the quad, though he was the youngest. he had been sober all his life, mainly because he wasn't allowed to drink alcoholic beverages while taking his antidepressants.

harley would occasionally have a drink, though she didn't go out much. after all, she was only 19 so she couldn't drink in public bars or restaurants at all.

all night, harley tried to ignore the groups of girls crowding around the two. they reeked of marijuana and booze and asked way too many questions, mostly about harley herself and if she's dating luke, while giving her the stink-eye.

they really weren't looking for friendship, but just an easy way to get into luke's pants.

"harley," luke shouted over the loud speakers blaring distasteful rap songs, "we're going outside." luke said, taking her hand in his and pulling her up from her seat.

she nodded, following behind him.

his hands were clammy, probably because he was immensley nervous around her, and the room was overpacked with people and all the bodies together made the air warm.

when they stepped outside, luke could finally breathe.

the muffled sounds of the music was the only audible nose in their presence.

harley kneeled down, taking off her heels and setting the aside, dipping her feet into the teal colored pool. luke sat next to her, but didn't follow, because he hated when his jeans got wet.

"those girls seemed really interested in you," harley spoke, her legs swishing in the warm water.

luke nodded, "i guess."

"i don't care, though. they aren't for me." he continued.

"but why?" harley questioned, her voice raising, "you know, i don't get you one bit. you have all these opportunities and open doors in your life, yet you never take them. i would kill to be in your position. you're basically spoonfed. you don't have to fend for yourself, unlike the rest of us." she grimaced at the thought.

he shrugged, feeling small as she lectured him.

harley saw his eyes fade, and suddenly regretted what she said.

"i'm sorry," she apologized, her voice lowering. "i get very opinionated when i'm drunk." she laughed.

"it's okay. you're kind of right." luke agreed, staring at his lap. "i don't know," he sighed.

they sat in silence for a few minutes, not knowing what to say to each other.

"harley, what time is it?" luke asked, breaking the quietness.

harley grabbed her phone from her clutch, checking the time.

"it's quarter past 1am, why?" she asked, furrowing her eyebrows at the sandy haired boy.

luke groaned, he was supposed to take his pill an hour ago.

"i think i'm gonna call a cab back to the hotel. do you wanna come with?"

harley nodded quickly, removing her legs from the pool and standing up, grabbing her shoes with her.

she didn't ask why he was in such a rush. she just assumed it was important.
