weekends usually go by quickly for people who spend them at home, doing nothing.

which is why harley instantly hated life when she woke up for work on mondays.

mondays were the worst. she felt like she had to drag her whole body out of bed with all the force she had, and drag her whole body to work with whatever energy and motivation she had left.

in other words, she could barely keep herself awake and alert as she sat at her teeny tiny desk at the corner of the office.

"harley?" a voice called, causing her to jump in her seat. "yeah, ms. stone? i'm here." she replied blinking several times to wake herself up.

"i'm going to email you a file of some manuscripts that need to be printed. i need those on my desk, stat." her boss explained, "and you look like you need a coffee. with an extra shot of caffeine." she lingered, tossing a $100 bill onto harley's desk.

"thank you, ms. stone. i guess i do need one." harley smiled up at the puffy haired lady, with an untamable lion's mane. "don't mention it," she said before walking away. "and don't forget the usual orders. i need them hot when they arrive, so don't hang around for too long."

harley groaned internally. coffee runs.

this was the worst part of the day for every intern. especially when it was freezing cold outside.

after what felt like miles in the harsh snow, harley made it back to her office building.

the drinks were getting warm and she felt as if her hands were about to fall off, so when she was finally in warm air she felt as if she had been saved.

she sat down as her coworkers came to pick up their hot drinks, thanking her quickly as they rushed back to whatever they were doing.

she smiled at them, while focusing on her email's inbox.

she clicked a few buttons before sending the files to the office printer and sitting back in her chair. it would be a few minutes before she could pick them up, since there was a line of people waiting to use the printer.

she pulled out her phone, which had a new text.

lucas: where are you i'm losing my mind with these nerds

she laughed as she read the message before typing a reply.

harley: i'm at work go away

she replied, setting her phone down on her desk and going to fetch the printed manuscripts.

before she could even make it two steps with a stack full of papers, she felt another body crash into her small one.

"oh i'm sorry," a voice muttered. "lucky i didn't spill this coffee." the green-eyed stranger laughed.

he had sandy blonde hair, which bunched together at the ends by curls.

they stood facing each other for an awkward few seconds.

"oh, sorry," he said, "garrett humphrey." he extended out his free hand. "but you can call me dex." he smiled, before looking down at the large stack of papers harley held in her both of arms. "it's short for dexter. you know, like the cartoon character." he laughed. "dorky, i know."

"yeah, harley king." she said, staring at his extended hand.

"oh like harley quinn?"

she cringed at the name. every time she encountered a new person, they always compared her to the fictional villain.

he pulled it down before bringing it to the back of his neck.

"let me help you with that." he offered, "no, i got it." harley denied, "wouldn't want to actually spill that coffee on it."

"oh, you're right," he said, moving out of her way. "guess i'll see you around?" he said.

"yeah, maybe." she replied, walking straight to her desk.

maybe it was just her luck, but she had a habit of bumping into the most awkward, yet attractive, sandy blonde-haired boys.
