WHEN IT ALL STARTED
Meeting Sam was just a chance, a feeling that sent Gabriel's life spinning in a completely new direction.
He was on his way to visit his younger brother, Castiel when he suddenly got a craving for hot chocolate. He was passing a cafe at that moment. He pulls in the parking lot and rushes inside. He orders his hot chocolate, extra chocolately. As he's walking out he has his wallet in one hand and his drink in the other. Just as he rushes outside, he runs into a sturdy body. His wallet flies out of his hand and his drink falls too.
"I'm sorry!" His drink is caught by the other person.
"No, I should be apologizing, I wasn't watching where I was going." Gabriel profusely apologizes. He looks at the other person. It's a man, with long brown hair and the most amazing hazel eyes Gabriel has ever seen. The man towers over Gabriel. Though he is immensely attractive.
"No need to apologize, here's your drink." The tall man hands the drink over. He stoops down and picks up two leather wallets from the ground.
"Here," the tall man smiles.
"Thanks." Gabriel smiles.
Then his phone starts ringing with the ringtone specifically set for Castiel.
"I'm sorry, I gotta go," Gabriel waves to the mysterious man.
"Sorry, Cassie!" Gabriel answers the phone. "I know I'm running late, I stopped for hot chocolate."
"Did you get me any?" Cas says on the other end.
"Sorry I was too busy running into a hot babe." Gabriel chuckles.
"Guy or girl?" Cas asks in an amused tone.
"Guy, and man was he hot and tall, my kind of guy. I would climb him like a mountain, if you catch my drift." Gabriel waggled his eyebrows even though Cas can't see him.
"Ew Gabe," Cas chuckles. "You know I'm a bit sensitive to the whole relationship thing." Gabriel slips into his car.
"Balthazar was a player you should have known it wasn't gonna last." Gabriel scoffs. Cas had recently broken up with his boyfriend, who dumped him for a bimbo in France. "Besides he doesn't deserve you, you will find a man who will treat you like the prince you are."
"Thanks Gabe." Cas sighs.
"I'll be there in ten." They say their goodbyes and Gabriel drives silently toward Castiel's house for the small family get together.
Cas is always trying to get the family together, thinks he can make things good again. Gabriel doesn't want to see his family, there are many other things he'd rather be than to listen to his brothers fight and his father drink.
He pulls into the drive and takes a deep breath before going into the house. Shouting can be heard, even before he opens the door.
"You're throwing you life away! Don't you even care?" Michael shouts to Lucifer.
"Why the hell do you even care? You've been daddy's perfect child since we were children." Lucifer shouts back.
Anna, their youngest sister sits at the table with her head down. Their dad is slumped on the opposite side, a drink in his hand. He became a drunk when their mother died when Gabriel was ten years old.
"Could you two shut up for five seconds!?" Gabriel shouts over them. They fall silent.
"Hey Gabe," Cas pulls his brother in for a hug.
"I'm only here for you and Anna." Gabriel mumbles as he sits next to his younger sister.
"Hey Anna," Gabriel says softly.
"Gabe!" She smiles and hugs him. "It's been a while."
"Yeah, I've been busy." He shrugs. Michael and Lucifer start arguing again. They see the look Gabriel gives them and they leave the room.
"Busy mopping floors?" She giggles. They all like to make fun of the fact that Gabriel is a janitor for a college.
"I won't be mopping floors once I get the money to open my shop." He huffs. It's his dream to open a candy shop, candy is his most favorite thing in the world.
"You keep saying that, but you haven't gotten any closer than you have when you thought of the idea." Anna points out. Which is halfway true. Six years he'd been mopping those floors, and he's saved a little bit of money, but he's still quite a ways away from his dream.
"Have faith in him," Cas comes up and claps him on the back. "I believe ha can do it." Cas smiles at his older brother. Castiel and Gabriel have always been very close, they have always been there for each other. "Speaking of candy," Cas holds up a finger and leaves the room. He returns holding a large plastic bag. "It's got over a hundred different kinds of suckers in it."
Gabriel takes the bag from him, staring at it in wonder.
"Thanks, Cassie!" He exclaims. "How much was this?"
"Oh no, you aren't doing that again!" Cas shakes his head.
"Cas, I have to pay you back." Gabriel insists.
"No, it's a gift." Cas folds his arms.
"I don't care," Gabriel pulls out his wallet. When he opens it up, he's shocked to see all the bills inside. His wallet never has more than sixty dollars in it. There is nearly $300 dollars in it. He is shocked to see another person's I.D. inside.
"This is not my wallet." Gabriel stares at the I.D. of Sam Winchester. The picture shows the man he ran into earlier.
"What do you mean that's not your wallet?" Cas asks.
"They must have gotten switched, when I ran into that man earlier." Gabriel mumbles. There's a picture in the wallet of the Sam guy and another guy. They are leaned up against a shiny black car.
"Oh he's cute." Cas points to the shorter man in the picture.
"The Ken Doll, really Cas?" Gabriel smirks at Castiel. "That moose of a man is more my type." Gabriel points to Sam.
"I'm gonna have to agree with Cas, the short one is pretty hot." Anna glances at the picture.
"Ugh, you guys have terrible taste." Gabriel rolls his eyes.
"Nope, it's just you." Anna chuckles.
"Whatever," Gabriel shuts the wallet. "How am I going to get my wallet back?" He groans and puts the wallet away, thinking of ways to get it back.
