~Lucas~
Lucas groaned under the bright light shining into his room. As he rolled over, a warm body that smelled of sweat and sex met him. Wrinkling his nose, he gave her a shove. He remembered telling her last night that she had better leave before he woke up. The thump of her body hitting the floor followed the screech that came from her mouth caused Lucas to smirk. Serves the bitch right for not following his orders. Stretching his arms above his head, he watched as she untangled herself from the blankets that were wrapped tightly around her body before standing up and staring at him with a piercing gaze.
"What the fuck, Lucas!" She screamed.
Lucas arched a brow before pinning her with deadly eyes. "What was that, Misty?" His voice was low and menacing.
He could hear her audible gulp before her stuttering began.
"I mean A-alpha Donovan." She stuttered.
Lucas leaned back, his folded hands behind his head. The corners of his lips lifted slightly before his eyes shifted between her scared face and the growing bulge under the sheet.
"Make it up to me," his voice was low and husky.
Lucas allowed his eyes to close the minute he felt her warm mouth wrap around his throbbing cock. He couldn't help resting his hand on the back of her head before lifting his hips. The audible gag made him grin, holding himself still for a few moments before relieving the pressure on the back of her throat.
He let a low groan leave him as she worked her mouth up and down his cock. He allowed his mind to wander, helping to dull the senses and keep the warm mouth on him longer.
Six years. It had been six years since Thomas ripped his future from him. Just like the other young wolves, he was looking forward to the Mate Gathering. He was ready to claim Angelica Winston. He, along with his best friend, drove the four hours talking nonstop about who they were hoping would be there. Lucas repeatedly reminded his friend how he would finally claim the untouchable Angelica. Thomas had grinned at him and wished him luck, telling him he would send a prayer to the Moon Goddess that nobody claimed her first. Thinking about it now, Thomas never said he would send that prayer to Lucas.
Feeling his balls tighten, Lucas grabbed onto the sides of Misty's head to hold her in place. With a few quick thrusts of his hips, he felt himself release, watching as she swallowed every last drop he gave her.
Pushing her away from him, he quickly stood up and pulled on a clean pair of clothes.
"So, are we still riding together to the Gathering?" Misty smiled seductively at him.
Lucas froze for a split second while pulling his shirt on before nodding at her. He had a four-hour car ride and long stretches of road. Receiving road head was one of his favorite past times.
By the time he reached the Gathering, it was in full swing. The four-hour car ride turned into six and a half. Traffic was only a small part of the delay. Leaving Misty in the car to sort out her clothing and reapply her makeup, Lucas made his way to the entrance. Quickly Glancing over the names, he paused on a name that seemed familiar to him but shook his head.
Lucas couldn't figure out why he willingly continued to come to these things. Not one she-wolf had caught his eye since Angelica, and he doubted one ever would. He was happy with the arrangements he had with his she-wolf population. Who was he kidding? He knew exactly why he continued to come. The council threatened his position. To continue ruling as Alpha of his pack, Lucas needed a mate and an heir. Groaning, he hoped whichever female he chose wouldn't give him any problems with the arrangements he already had in place.
Looking around the room, his eyes landed on the one person he never wanted to see again. He could feel his hackles rise and he took slow steps towards him. Eyes narrowed, he slowly made his way towards them before coming to a stop inches away.
"Thomas," his voice was dripping with venom.
Lucas watched as Thomas turned towards him, eyes wide.
"L-Lucas?" Thomas stuttered before pulling him into a hug. "How the hell are you?"
Lucas stood frozen. What the hell was running through Thomas' mind?
"Thomas?"
At that voice, Lucas pulled away. A small smile tugged at his lips. The woman standing in front of him was just as beautiful as she was six years ago. "Angie?"
"Lucas? Lucas Donovan?" Angie grinned, pulling him into a hug. "Look at you! Just as handsome as ever." She gushed.
"Angelica Winston, you-"
"Walker. She is a Walker now. We're mated and have a pup on the way." Thomas cut him off.
Lucas stepped back, eyeing her round stomach. "I see that," he sneered. "So Angelica, what are you doing here? Searching for a new mate?"
Angelica laughed, lightly slapping his arm. "No silly. We are here for Grace."
"Grace?" he asked with a confused look on his face.
"Uh-huh, Grace. She's Thomas' baby sister, remember? This is her first year at the Gathering." Angelica pointed her out.
Lucas followed her finger to a very petite brunette speaking with a low-class wolf. She had a wide smile on her face and her eyes were shining with happiness.
"She isn't looking for someone with rank?" Lucas turned his attention back to the couple.
"No," Thomas shook his head. "Grace would prefer a low-ranking wolf. That's Anthony, he has been glued to Grace's side since we got here. He seems like he will be a suitable match for her."
Lucas nodded. "I'll send a prayer up to the Moon Goddess that nobody chooses her first."
Thomas smiled, "Thank you, Lucas."
At the crackling of the loudspeakers, Lucas excused himself. Finding his seat, he listened to the introductions. They were the same every year. There was only one slight change that had taken place in the past three years and this time he was ready for it.
"As a returning Alpha who has yet to find his mate, we will give him the courtesy of going first before we start the draw." The speaker cleared his throat before nodding toward Lucas.
"Alpha Lucas Donovan."
Lucas stood and slowly made his way towards the stage, and chuckled at the shocked expressions on the speaker and High Council's faces. Every year he has come, he has waved them off when his name has been called. This will be the first time he has ever stepped foot onto the stage.
Leaning his large frame over the ledger, he signed his name, followed by that of his chosen mate. Standing tall, he caught the eyes of Thomas and Angelica, giving him a thumbs up. He stepped back and whispered the name into the speaker's ear and watched once again as he raised the mic to his mouth.
"Grace Walker."
Lucas could hear Thomas' sharp intake of air over the clapping of the crowd. Training his eyes on Grace, he watched as she stood slowly and glanced over at Anthony. The instant he signed her name, his wolf knew she belonged to him and didn't take kindly to the looks that the pup was giving their mate.
Grace stepped in front of Lucas, her eyes lowered, and all he could do was smile down at her. She really was tiny, so much smaller than his 6'4 frame. Taking her small hand in his, Lucas took a step towards the council before stopping. He could see Grace glance up at him before he spun them around. Lifting Grace up, he smiled when she instinctively wrapped her legs around his waist, gasping when he trailed his nose along her neck.
Locking his eyes with Thomas, he allowed a sinister smirk to take over his face. He saw the moment Thomas knew what he was doing. Lucas watched as Thomas took a step towards them, shaking his head rapidly, a look of horror on his face. Lucas allowed the smirk to grow wide before he bit down into her neck, laying his claim and marking her as his.
