Grace sat motionless, her eyes locked on a distance tree. This is where she has sat for the past two weeks. Unmoving and unresponsive.

"Grace?" A soft voice called from the doorway

There was no movement, nothing showing that she even acknowledge the speaker. There was only silence.

"Please Grace, come eat."

Grace closed her eyes before inhaling deeply. Turning her head slightly she caught site of her mate in the corner closest to her. She watched as he raised his head, his tail thumping lightly against the floor.

The moment Lucas' wolf had taken over, he forced a shift. He hadn't changed back since and she wasn't sure how to feel about that. His wolf had complete control and was refusing to give it back. Grace caught his eyes and could see the pain and sorrow in them.

Looking towards Beth, she sighed. "I'm not very hungry."

"Grace please, you haven't eaten much. I'm worried about you."

Grace turned her head back, and sighed. "Don't be."

Silence took over the room again before she heard a yelp that was quickly followed by a growl.

"Oh don't give me that! This is all your fault Lucas!" Beth screached.

Grace's lip curled slight as she turned her head back to Beth, "did you just kick him?"

Beth stood up taller, "Yes I did."

Grace let out a light giggle that had Lucas' wolf huffing. Standing she made her way towards Beth, a light whimper following when she didn't acknowledge the wolf.

"Let's eat, then I'd like to take a walk."

That was how Grace spent the next few weeks. She stayed close to Beth constantly and where ever she went her wolf mate closely followed.

Grace found herself sitting in an open field, basking in the quiet. Beth had gone up to the pack house, promising to bring back a picnic lunch. Grace was enjoying the warmth of the sun on her skin when her mate came and laid next to her, a low whine was heard from him.

Chewing on her lip, she was unsure what to do. Lifting her hand she gently placed it on the beast, she felt him stiffen before lightly laying his head on her lap. She couldn't be angry with the wolf, he wasn't in control of his human before. She frowned when he continued to whine.

"It's okay. I don't blame you," Grace spoke softly. "You stopped him before he could finish what he intended to do and I thank you for that."

Shaking her head she sniffled. How was she ever going to forgive Lucas for what he almost did to her. She thought she knew how that day was going to end and she was okay knowing that they would return to their home to complete the mating. If that was what he intended she would not have fought him.

The first joining of an Alpha and his mate would always result in a pregnancy. If Lucas wouldn't have did what he did, his son would be growing in her belly right now. A son was always the first to be born to an Alpha and his mate.

Running her hand through his fur, Grace watched as a shiver ran through his body.

"I wish thing could have been different. I wish your human half was more like you."

Grace watched as Lucas raised his head, his black eyes staring into hers. She could see the emotions passing through their depths and her heart broke for him. For a human and his wolf to be so at odds with each other was terrible, it was like your soul was being ripped in half. There was no harmony between beast and man.

"If it were you who was in control of your human and not just the wolf, I think we could be happy."

Grace rubbed behind his ear and let out a soft giggle when he pressed himself further into her.

"You wouldn't keep seeing other females, would you?"

A low growl was her answer. She knew it was the wolf's way of saying he wasn't pleased with the female his human kept going to.

"I'm sorry we were both stuck with your human half. I wish there was something we could do."

They were soon interrupted by Beth. She had a basket hanging from on arm and a blanket in the other. When she eyed Lucas her eyes narrowed.

"Andy needs you, Alpha." She sneered the last part at him.

Grace watched as his lip curled, not liking the disrespect. He stood tall and stalked towards her before Beth lowered her gaze and bared her neck in submission.

"Come sit Beth," Grace patter the spot next to her. Her eyes went to Lucas and watched as he sprinted towards the pack house. She noticed not long after that a few pack wolves set themselves up in the distance, taking their places to protect the Alpha and Beta's mates.

"You need to be careful Beth," Grace sighed. "Lucas is still your Alpha and I don't want anything happening to you  just because you are angry with him for what he did to me."

Beth gave a sheepish smile, "I know. He just made me so mad! I can't believe what he almost did. I don't know how his wolf did it but thank goodness he was able to stop him."

Grace nodded in agreement. "I know. I wish he room control a long time ago."

"Agreed." Beth smiled, "enough about all that. Let's eat, I'm starving!"

Dishing out the plates, Grace laughed. "Same here!"

The two women laughed and joked the rest of the day and Grace was exhausted by the time they returned to the pack house. A hot shower and bed was all she wanted.

Beth waved her off and headed towards her room as Grace made her way upstairs. She groaned, so many stairs. The house was silent, which wasn't a surprise for this time of day. Many families were readying themselves for bed.

Opening the door to her room, Grace froze. Fear consumed her and her thoughts jumbled. She didn't know if she should run and hide or stay and take whatever it is that would come.
Standing before the window, arms behind his back stood her mate.

Gripping the door handle for some sort of support she swallowed hard. She wasn't sure if she would be able to speak but she opened her mouth anyway.

"L-lucas?"
