Complete terror. That was all Lucas saw on his mate's face. His heart clenched and he hated knowing he was the cause. Stepping towards her he reached out a hand, dropping it instantly the moment she flinched.

"Grace," his voice came out deep and raspy.

He watched as her head snapped up, her eyes locking with his and he knew the instant she realized. His black eyes were a dead give away that his wolf still had complete control.

Although she relaxed slightly,  she was still stiff which caused a low whine to emerge from him. Kneeling down in front of her he bowed his head. It was difficult for an Alpha to be in this position, but he wanted to prove something to his mate. That from this moment, he was at her mercy.

"I'm so sorry I couldn't stop him sooner Grace, and I will have to live the rest of my life trying to fix his mistakes." Taking a deep breath he looked up at her stunned face. "I've already began righting some of the wrongs he has done to you."

Grace swallowed hard, "w-what?"

"Misty is no longer in the pack. I sent her away. I couldn't have her here with you." Lucas growled out the last part.

Grace nodded, waiting for him to continue.

"Your brother and his mate are on their way to see you. And," Lucas paused before reaching out grabbing her hands. "I let Anthony go. As hard as it was, I did it. If you are going to give me pups, I want you to want to. I don't want to hold anything over your head."

Lucas still kneeled in front of Grace, he refused to rise until she gave him permission. His human half may have treated her as if she were below him, but no longer. She was his mate and he would treat her as such.

Staring at the ground he waited for some form of acknowledgment.  He would do anything for this woman. He would do anything, give anything, if it would make her happy. Sorrow wracked his body, he would even let her go.

A light touch on his shoulder had his head snapping up. His mate was staring down at him and he could see the tears pooling in her eyes.

"Will you give him back control?" Her voice was barely above a whisper.

"No." The answer was simple. He refused to give his human the control he was so desperately trying to regain. "Not unless you ask, or he agrees to change his ways."

He was shocked when she dropped down to her knees, pulling him into a tight hug. He could smell the saltiness of her tears as they ran down her face, wetting his shirt. Anger at his human consumed him as he pulled Grace to him. His arms locked around her body, refusing to let her go.

Standing to his full height he lifted her and made his way to the bed. Pulling back the covers he laid her on the mattress and watched as she once again stiffened. Planting his lips against her forehead, he gave her a soft kiss.

"Sleep my love." He smiled gently while pulling the blanket over her.

Softly smiling at her, he felt his bones begin to shift, as hair began sprouting over his body. Before he knew it, he was on all four and jumped onto the foot of her bed. Resting his head on his paws he locked eyes with Grace, they were wide but she began to relax when she realized it was his wolf form that would be sleeping with her.

Lucas' wolf fought against his human half for most of the night. The stupid two legged creature tried his best to take control back. He gave promises of treating Grace better and not touching her until she was ready. He huffed, how stupid did the human think he was. He knew how his human truly felt. Gaining his heir was still the first thing on his mind.

The sun was up much sooner then he wanted. His mind and body were exhausted over the constant battle of dominance.

Looking in the mirror at his human form, he  laughed. "Stupid human forgets who the Alpha truly is."

Glancing at his still sleeping mate he made his way down to the kitchen, pack members froze at the sight of him for it was the first time they have seen him on two legs since the incident.

"Alpha?" Andy called from the table. "Is everything okay?"

Lucas looked at his Beta and nodded. "I'm just fetching some breakfast for your Alpha female. She'll be hungry when she wakes."

Silence followed his statement as he looked upon the shocked faces of his pack memebers. Not once since Grace had been here had he called her the Alpha female.

"Does this mean you are giving her the role?" Someone spoke from behind him.

Lucas snarled before turning his head, his black eyes darkening even more, "I don't have to give her the position. She is my mate and therfore it belongs to her."

Grabbing food to bring to his mate, he looked at his Beta, "call a pack meeting. It's time to do what my stupid human didnt."

He watched as Andy nodded his head, a small smile gracing his lips. "Yes Alpha."

Beth squealed and threw her arms around Andy, her face beaming. "Grace is going to be so excited!"

Lucas watched as she planted her lips against her mate's. He watched as Andy wrapped his arms around her and pulled her body flush against his.

He couldn't help the smile that took over his face. He knew it would take a lot of hard work, but he believed that Grace would be the same with him. He had his human under control, locked up tight and that's where he would remain.

Turning with a tray of food in his hands, Lucas made his way up to his mate. With a smile on his face he opened the door, only to freeze. The room was completely empty. Panic began to surround him as his eyes darted around the room.

He could feel his heart start to break. She left him. He may have told himself he would let her go, but he never thought she would actually leave. He knew he wouldn't be able to function without her.

Stepping further into the room he sat on the bed, placing the tray of food on the nightstand. Gripping her pillow, he held it tight to him. Her scent lingered, teasing him. Tears filled his eyes before slowly creeping down his face. He was to late, she was gone and there was nothing he could ever do to fix what his human did.
