Sadness consumed her. He no longer wanted her, it was the only explanation she could come up with. Why else would he get her off the phone so quick and refuse her calls?

Grace sat on the porch swing, the same place she came to everyday since returning back to her original pack.

"Angie said you haven't eaten again Gracey."

The sound of her brother's voice tore her from her depressing thoughts and making Grace jump. She looked at him and knew he could see how broken she was.

"Why doesn't he want me?" Rubbing at the tears in her eyes, her shoulders sank. "He's never wanted me and his wolf taking over didn't change it."

"Grace," Thomas reached for her.

"He's never wanted me," she whispered into his chest as she held onto her brother.

"Grace, it isn't that. He sent you away to keep you safe."

Looking up at her brother, her brows furrowed. "Safe? Safe from what?"

Grace watched as Thomas tried to come up with the right thing to say to her. It was as if he had the answer but he was trying to figure out a way to reword it without telling her everything.

"Himself. He is trying to protect you from himself." Thomas took a deep breath, "Grace, the Blue Moon effects him a lot different than it does  any other male I have ever known."

Grace tilted her head confused, "I don't understand."

"He loses himself.  It's like he blacks out. He becomes aggressive, possesive."

"But isn't that normal?"

Thomas shook his head. "Grace a male normally doesn't feel any of that until after his very first shift at sixteen. He was feeling it as early as..." Thomas' voice trailed off. His eyes widening as he took his sister in. "No way."

Grace looked around confused, "what?"

A smile took over Thomas' face, "he has been dealing with this since the day you were born Grace." Standing abruptly, Thomas kissed her forehead and bolted in the house.

Confused, she settled back into her seat. It was quiet, mates were readying themselves for the long night ahead. The only movement that came were from those that were already expecting, the moon did not drive them to mate all night long. If things were different, she could be in her mates arms right now.

Grace stared out of the window, the Blue Moon had almost reached its peak, the glow casting little light in her dark room. Mates from all over would use this night to guarantee reproduction, it was the only time that every couple knew their mating would end in offspring.

Grace turned at the sound of the lock on her door sliding into place, a soft gasp was the only sound in the room. Her eyes took in the man before her and she swallowed hard.

There, standing in her doorway, was her mate. He seemed to have bulked up, his face looking feral as he took her in. His breathing was rapid and if she weren't paying attention, she wouldn't have noticed the way his body was tense. Squinting her eyes she studied him harder, it was as if he were having an internal battle with himself.

"W-what are you doing here? I thought you said..."

"I know what was said," he cut her off, "but I couldn't fight it anymore. Grace I need you, want you."

She watched as he fought to take deep calming breaths. His fist closed tightly at his sides. He was struggling with standing there and she knew it.

"If you don't want this, tell me and I will go. As hard as it will be, I will go."

Reaching her hand out she motioned him foreward. There was no fighting it, she could feel the pull the moon was causing on them. She could practically feel her body preparing itself for what was to come after.

Smiling softy, she watch as he stepped forward but what she saw had her taking a sharp intake of breath. There standing before her was not the Alpha, although it was the same body she was used to seeing, it were the eyes that gave it away. Gone were the pitch black of the mate she came to love. In there place were the warm chocolaty colored eyes of Lucas. Taking a quick step back she watched as he paused.

"I won't force you Grace. I'm sorry I ever tried."

"I-I can't. Not with you."

Lucas hung his head, "I can't let him out Grace. He is more beast right now than anything. It took a lot of fighting and him taking us to the pack doctor to get a suppressant to allow me to cage and hold him. If I let him out, he won't be the Alpha you know him as. He will hurt you when he takes you over and over Grace and he would never be the same."

Shaking her head she wanted to deny that he would do such a thing to her but she could see the truth in Lucas' eyes and hear it in his voice.

"I just can't, not with you." Grace wanted to cry, she could feel the pull getting stronger and her resolve weakening. If Lucas stayed here any longer she wouldn't be able to resist him.

She watched as he squeezed his eyes shut, and knew there was a war raging inside of himself. When he opened them back up, what she saw shocked her again. The eyes staring back at her were not the black of the Alpha or the brown of Lucas. No, they were a golden carmel color. She had heard stories of this happening once before but never thought she would see it. Lucas wasn't fully in control and neither was the Alpha. No, both man and beast were at the forefront.

"You had your chance to turn me away my love. Now, it is to late."

Grace went wide eyed and watched as he stalked towards her, he was like a predator stalking his prey. His eyes locked to her watching for an indication that she may try to bolt.

Grace barely had time to react when he lunged for her, lifting her up and pressing her back against the wall. He leaned in and pressed his nose to her neck and inhaled deeply.

"You smell exquisite." A rumble of approval came from his chest, causing Grace to shudder.

"Tell me you want me Grace."  He left a light trail of kisses down her throat and to her shoulder.

Grace swallowed hard and let out a shaky breath, "I want you."

The slow sexy smirk that spread across his face caused her heart to skip a beat, and she realized there was no going back.
