I sat close to the fire writing in my journal. It's pages were damaged and the leather cover was ripping in several places, but it was mine. Mark walked by and snatched it away from my hands. I jumped off the ground and reached for it watching it dangle over the fire.
"Give it back!"
"Why should I?"
"Because I'll kill you if you don't."
I tackled him to the ground wrestling the book from his dirt covered hands. I flipped through the pages until I found the picture. It was tucked in between two pages already covered in my words. I closed it up and shoved it into my bag away from the dangers of the outside world.
"Al we need a supply run."
"Mark hasn't gone in over a week."
"I'm asking you."
John helped me off the ground and handed me a list. He ordered us all around saying it was to keep order. Personally I think he just missed being a boss. I grabbed my bow and walked towards the camp jeep. It was only used for supply runs so it was the only thing outside the barrier.
"If you're not back by morning.."
"You'll consider me dead. I got it."
I pulled away from camp and rolled down the windows letting the warm air hit my face. We were all pretty concerned about when winter would finally show it's face. I bet two cans of pineapple for next month. When winter hit it was going to hit hard. John started to secretly stock up just in case I was right.

I crawled through a broken window and fell to the floor. Clouds of dust circled around me making me cough. No one had been in this place for a while. Not even the walkers. I opened my bag and went to the kitchen. The place was almost cleared out from my last couple runs. I didn't fancy the idea about going farther into the city to get supplies, but I was going to have to.
I zipped up my bag and crawled out the same window I came in. Three walkers stumbled in front of me blocking my only exit. I went to grab an arrow when I saw the rest of the horde come around the corner. I crawled back through the window and looked out the front door. It was still clear. I took a deep breath and slammed the butt of my rifle into the glass shattering it. I ducked out of the bar and turned to see the horde stumbling towards me. I tightened the bag on my shoulders and ran in the other direction. I didn't stop running until I got to the next store. I ducked into the broken door catching my shoulder on some of the broken glass. The shelves were pretty empty, but there were still a few cans laying around the floor. I went down each aisle watching the floor. Each step had to be intentional and careful. The horde wouldn't be too far away and would hear any sound I made.
I grabbed a can of peas and hit my head on the shelf. I stepped back keeping my eyes on the door when the shelf fell. It crashed into the old freezer making the loudest noise possible. It took about everything I had to keep myself from screaming. As if today couldn't get any worse. I scrambled to grab a few more cans and ducked out of the store. I hurried to the end of the street and stumbled forward. The streets were blocked off by walkers. I turned around to see more coming my way. Their feet shuffled against the pavement as they moved towards me. I reached for my bow and set an arrow. I let go and watch two walkers hit the street. I grabbed my gun and slid my bow back over my shoulder. My back was against a wall as I started putting down the walkers. The horde from my left moved in. I exchanged the clip and kicked the window behind me open as the hordes closed in on me.
"See ya later, guys."
I fell back through the window and pressed my weight on my knee before I raised my gun. Two walkers hit the ground with a bullet through their heads. I threw my gun over my shoulder again and ran out the back. The two walkers blocked the damaged window, but the horde still tried to follow me. I kicked open the back door and ran out of the city just before dawn.
