"I don't wanna be a dragon trapper or a solider." Luna pouted and crossed her arms stubbornly. Bardolf sighed and knelt down in front of her.

"Lupa, you know you have to choose either one or Drago will kill you. I'm not saying you have to choose right away but you will have to choose."

"I said I don't want to be either." Lupa said shaking her head angrily. "Soldiers killed my friends of my village and dragon trappers are mean to dragons." She had seen how rough the trappers were with dragons and she hated hearing the cries of sorrow from the dragons.

"Lupa you have to choose." Eret said putting a hand on her shoulder. "And be glad that it's Bardolf you are talking to and not Pig-face." Pig-face was one of the other instructors that taught them and he had a nasty temper. If you didn't do something correct he would smack you in the back with his whip.

"I don't care i'm not scared of him." That was true. Lupa wasn't phased by the mans screams or his threats. To her, neither his bark nor his bite was bad. "I'd rather run away than be one of Drago's dogs."

"Lupa!" Eret hissed covering her mouth. He felt her teeth bite his fingers and he immediately released his hold on her.

"I don't care. I will never work for him!" Luna spat and stomped her foot. "Working for him is dishonorable! He killed our father and he expects us to bow and serve him!"

"Now lets not start that talk Lupa." Bardolf said standing up. "Drago won't be pleased to hear the daughter of his old friend speaking that way. Be grateful he has had mercy for you and Eret." And with that, he walked off.

"I guess you're right, papa wouldn't want us working for him." Eret sighed.

"Then lets run away." Lupa suggested. Eret smiled and ruffled her hair.

"Then let's do it." He agreed.

"When?"

"Soon."

"Lupa wake up." Luna sat up and saw her brother pulling his boots on. "Come on we're running away tonight."

"Oh good I thought you only agreed to that to make me shut up." She said pulling her boots on and following her bother silently.

They managed to sneak past all the guards and arrived at the wall of the fort.

"I managed to make a hole." Eret said digging some snow away to reveal a hole large enough for a small child to crawl through. "You first." Luna got down on her hands and knees and crawled through to the other side.

"Come on you go now!" She hissed but Eret shook his head.

"I'm not going."

"Why? You promised we'll both leave!" Luna said in disbelief. Why was her brother doing this? She started to crawl back through the hole to rejoin her brother.

"Go!" He hissed pushing her through the gap. "Run and don't stop!"

"No I'm not leaving you behind!" She  whispered loudly scrambling to her feet, grabbing his hand and trying to pull him through.

"Don't worry Lupa, we'll see each other again soon I promise!"

"When? I don't want to leave you behind Eret!" He looked into her deep green eyes that were brimming with tears.

"Someday." He said firmly. "I promise we'll see eachother and we'll stick together no mater what

"Like wolves should?" She asked releasing his arm.

"Like wolves." He said with a firm nod. Luna wiped her eyes and released his arm. She turned away and sprinted as fast as she could away from him. "I'm so sorry but I can't fit through Lupa. Just be safe for me little wolf." he whispered and pushed the snow back into place.

Once he pushed it all back to hide the hole he rushed back to his room, covering up his tracks as best he could. He shook the snow off his boots and left them by the door and jumped back into bed.

"Be safe Lupa. We will see each other again. Not in death but in life." he whispered before falling into deep sleep.
