It had been two weeks since Lupa promised she would come to Berk for a brief visit and Eret was getting worried. Hiccup kept assuring him that she was probably still thinking about coming, but Eret knew deep in his gut that something was wrong.
"You aren't even a brother, you wouldn't understand!" He had snapped at Hiccup when the young chief had told him once again to not worry so much. "I was just reunited with her and I don't even know how to find her!"
"Eret, I know how you feel about being so worried for your sister." Astrid said quickly to keep him calm. "Would it help you if you at least went back to Drago's fort to get her scent to find her?"
"By now it's probably already gone, gods above Astrid what am I going to do?! First I lost my family and most of my tribe, then I lose my sister to keep her safe, then I lose the only man in Drago's army who has shown me any kindness, and now my only living relative is probably fish food!"
Before either Astrid or Hiccup could respond, the doors of the hall were thrown open to reveal a very tired Gustav and a startled looking Arsyn. The two teens dragons soon ran in, Gustav's Monstrous Nightmare named Fanghook and Arsyn's Whispering Death named Blackjack, roaring and screeching up a storm with frightened eyes.
"Whoa guys what's wrong with your dragons?" Hiccup asked as Fanghook scrambled over to him and tried shoving him towards the door.
"I don't know! We were feeding them and they suddenly went wild!" Arsyn explained as Blackjack slithered over to Astrid and nudged her towards the doors. "I think they sense something wrong!"
"Like what?" Astrid asked her sister.
"Maybe they sense a dragon is in trouble?" Gustav suggested. "We heard the faint screams of a dragon coming from the sea."
Eret's eyes widened in horror. "Lupa." He muttered before hurrying out of the hall and down the stairs to where Skullcrusher was waiting for him. "Come on lad, I think I know where my sister is! Ya!" With a loud roar, the Rumblehorn took off into the sky.
"Eret wait up!" Hiccup yelled as they ran outside. "Toothless! Come on, we can't let him go out there alone. Gustav, Arsyn, you're coming with us."
"Kickass time!" Arsyn whooped as she climbed onto her dragon's back. "Let's go!"
As Eret was flying over the ocean, he could hear the faint cries of a dragon getting louder and caught sight of a cluster of boats. A familiar bronze dragon was in the middle of them screeching and struggling to free itself from the chains that were wrapped around it's body. Eret could now hear a girl's cries as well.
"Eret! Eret!" Eret felt the nauseating feeling in his gut grow stronger when he recognized the voice.
"Lupa! I'm coming!" He yelled as he urged his dragon to fly faster. Once he got close, he could see his sister chained down on her dragon as they were struggling to get loose. Eret could feel a surge of anger building up in his chest and gave a loud yell. "YOU LET MY SISTER GO YOU BASTARDS!" He screamed as Skullcrusher sent a blast of fire at one of the ships.
"Eret!" Lupa cried when she saw her brother. "They're Drago's men! The sails!"
Eret had seen the symbol on the sails and felt that anger inside him grow. Drago had already claimed the life of his family and most of his tribe, the lives of countless other people who tried to fight against him, the lives of dragons that refused to submit to him, but now he wasn't about to let that madman claim the only family he had left.
"Fire Skullcrusher!" He yelled as his dragon blasted at another set of ships. Fern and Lupa were soon free of their chains and flew up to the clouds. Eret watched as his sister and her dragon dropped down, spraying fire and slashing at the ships.
"That was for murdering my family! That was for killing my pack!" Lupa screamed as Fern slashed through each ship, sending the men aboard them to jump into the ocean. "And this was for forcing my brother to be one of you!"
"Lupa! Eret! Pull back!" The two siblings turned to see Hiccup and the other riders approaching them.
"But Hiccup-"
"That's an order Eret, not a suggestion!" Astrid yelled.
"You're not my chief and I can do whatever the hell I want!" Lupa snapped, earning a gasp from the group. "In our tribe when someone has wronged you or a family member or your tribe, you do things like this!"
"Dang...I'm liking this kid already." Arsyn muttered and Astrid shot her a look.
"Another day Lupa, Fern doesn't look so good." Hiccup pointed out and Fern gave a tired hiss. They were well out of range of the ships so they had no worries about getting hit with nets.
"Lupa, just listen to him. When it some to dragons he knows best." Eret said and held his hand out to his sister. "Please, come home with me, revenge can wait another day."
Lupa looked down at the wrecked ships and then back to her brother. She so badly wanted to destroy the ships till they were nothing but splinters large enough to act as toothpicks for dragons, attack till she made those men beg for mercy and give them the sweet mercy they deserved: death. But Fern was too tired to keep attacking and the last thing Lupa needed was an over exhausted dragon that would give out under her in the middle of battle.
"Fine, but just until Fern and I rest up." Lupa sighed, stretching her hand out to touch her brother's hand. "There's...a lot I need to tell you about since I escaped."
"You can tell me and the others over supper. Come on, it's time to come to my new home little sister."
