Doctor who Bedtime stories

Sad River

A/N: Short story by SoT and since hythros didn't like SoT's ending, cause it was supposed to cheer me up from my bad mood, he wrote continue ;-) ^^

On the evening of a tiring day at work River was making herself some tea in her room, when she heard a knock on door. She went to open it and in front of her stood a mailman with a blue package. She took it with excitement because she recognised that colour. When she opened it, out flew a tiny blue police box, twirling all around the room. It almost knocked over her plant, as it grew to its full size.

River decided to prepare another cup of tea and went to the cupboard. Her cup almost dropped as she heard familiar from inside the TARDIS. A voice she had known longer than any other. She turned around to hug her mother and looked at the Doctor with tears in her eyes.

"Whoa..." Amy said, slightly pushing River away. "...What's this all about?"

"I..." River tried to say "...I'm just happy to see you."

"Is this ok for you, River?" the Doctor asked. "Do you want me to go?"

"No," River replied "Thank you" River turned around and looked at the tea, the tears still in her eyes. She looked back at Amy. "Goodbye, mother" she said, turning away.

"Didn't we just arrived?" Amy asked but was pulled back at her shoulder by the Doctor. "Goodbye" Amy said, before slowly going back into the console room.

As the TARDIS faded away with a deep sighing wheeze, River sat down with her tea and wiped her eyes. She tried to get distracted by watching TV but after ten minutes she realised it was no use. The only thing she could think about was Manhatton...

River sat in the corner and looked out of the window, desperately trying to hide the tears that wouldn't stop. She felt all alone and knew her story had been told. What else would she have to expect?

As suddenly a second soft knock ripped her out of her musings. Surprised River looked up the door, as someone knocked for times.

She went up and opened the door, as she was greeted by a strange man with a warm smile who held a small package up to her. River took it surprised and looked at the stranger in front of her.

"Thanks, that is very nice but I think you got the wrong door. I wasn't expecting anything" she told him with a sad smile.

But the man looked at with soft eyes and chuckled a bit: "I know" he told her. "But I also know that you need this right now." And with that said, he left her standing and disappeared out of her sight.

A little confused River walked back inside and opened the package. Inside was a small diary, the colour of a deep warm crimson. Surprised River skimmed through the pages, there were all empty, except for a little note between the pages. Surprised she opened it and read the lines:

For all adventures to come.
The adventure might be over but the story never is.
