Okay, really quick, let me just say, oh my freakin gods! How do I have 5k reads? I mean, I knew there was a good number of you guys reading this story, but are there really enough of you to make 5k reads? This is now my second most popular book.

When the call finally came, Jacqueline changed from a normal lantern, to something that looked more like a flamethrower.

You had modified your scythe a bit. The blade was larger and wider. It would protect Meg a bit more.

Kim didn't use the rushing technique that was quite common. She jumped on Jacqueline, and they flew as though they were a witch and her broomstick. Which they kind of were. They came from above, and shot flames. Meg blocked with you.

It stung a little bit, but not as much as it would if you were in human form.

Stein noticed Kim and Jacqueline's flying trick, and made a new rule, that nobody could have both feet off the ground for more than ten seconds. Kim grumbled angrily, as she landed and the fight continued.

Meg twirled around Kim, whacking her with the back of the blade. She got pushed, but didn't fall, or even loose her footing. She looked bored with the fight, as though she thought you were amateurs. You were determined to prove her wrong, and from the looks of it, so was Meg.

Kim twisted her grip on the handle, and twirled it in your direction. She caught Meg on the shoulder with a burning hot chunk of metal. Meg groaned in pain, and held her shoulder.

She began to get frantic, twisting, and spinning, and slashing towards Kim. Kim dodged easily every time, and returned a few blows with Jacqueline.

Meg tried to act as unbothered as possible. You could tell she was hurting from all the burns. You saw what she was trying to do. She was trying to act as though she was going for a knockout, but bit by bit, Kim was getting shoved backwards. Either from dodges, or from actual shoves, she was getting closer and closer to the edge of the ring.

Kim seemed to notice, and she maneuvered her way around, so you were the ones closer to the rope. She started shoving Meg back, but Meg reached out with your blade, and caught Kim in it. Kim didn't see you coming, and was caught off guard. She got swung around, and knocked on her hands and knees. Right outside of the ring.

You transformed back into a human, and gave Meg a huge high-five. Kim and Jacqueline had been way harder to beat than Nilda and Bo. Jacqueline turned back to human form, and Kim stood up and dusted herself off. You all shared stiff handshakes. Kim was shooting you both evil looks, and Jacqueline looked really disappointed. You felt kind of bad.

You soon got over it when you realized who you'd have to fight on Friday. It was Black Star and Tsubaki.

The other fights took place.

Ox and Harvar beat Janna and Sam; Kilik, Pot of Fire and Pot of Thunder beat Maureen and Roseanne; and Angie and Alyssa beat Angelica and Evander.

There were only eight teams left. Stein promised by the end of the day, there would only be two left. If there weren't, he was going to keep you all after class until you're done. The final two would fight on Saturday morning.

You and Meg went home, and rested up for your fight with Blackstar.

On Friday, you headed to school, and the battles started up again first thing. Maka and Soul beat Tamara and Thomas easily. Kid had to start fighting as well, so of course, he beat Angie and Alyssa. Kilik beat Ox and Harvar, and then it was your turn to fight Black Star.

Honestly, you were terrified. You knew how strong he was, and his pride would never let him go easy enough that you could win. You were going to lose, and all your hard work would be pointless.

You stepped into the ring and transformed into a scythe. You weren't ready to show all your classmates your ability to change your form.

Suddenly, it was time to start, and Meg wasn't ready at all. Black Star lunged and threw Tsubaki's chain around Meg's legs. She was tripped, and Black Star stood up straight. Black Star whispered "Tsubaki, mode: Uncanny Sword." (In case you don't read the manga, it's Masamune's Sword. I'm pretty sure it's called the Enchanted Sword in the Anime.)

Tsubaki shifted into a long blade. It was beautiful. She said it didn't used to be, but she never told you why. You were quite curious, but you shrugged that off and focused on the fight.

Black Star raised the sword quick as a flash, but Meg was way ahead of him. She rolled out of the way before he could slice her in half, and tried to trip him with the back of your blade.

Black Star was way too fast, and he jumped up, and slashed towards Meg.

He grazed her cheek, and a trickle of blood started to run down her face.

"Tsubaki, mode: smoke bomb."

Tsubaki transformed, and let out a screen of smoke. It was so dense that neither of you could see anything.

You couldn't hear anything either. You could tell Black Star was biding his time until he could properly beat you. Usually he was a bit louder though.

You transformed back to your human form and stood back to back with Meg, ready to fight with fists if you had to.

The smoke wasn't clearing, and you didn't know when it would. You got more and More worried.

You still couldn't hear anything. All you could do was watch as the smoke curled off your fingers and around your shoulders. It seemed to be plain water vapor, because otherwise, you would have a really bad cough at this point.

You didn't see him coming. Only heard the light steps of his shoes.

He came rushing at you. You held up your arms and tried to block his punch.

You were pushed back by the force of his punch. You thought it was odd that he hadn't attacked using his soul wavelength. That would probably finish the fight.

But he didn't. He kept throwing punches. Luckily, your reflexes were pretty fast from playing video games a lot back home. (Sorry if you don't play video games. I do, so. . . )

Eventually, one of his punches shoved you away from Meg.

Then it clicked. The weapon wasn't the one you were supposed to knock out. The meister was. You suddenly had a new plan. Before Black Star could use his soul wavelength, you shoved your way in front of Meg, and started moving towards the rope. You knew you couldn't knock him out, but you could shove him out of the ring.

Black Star wasn't trying to punch you, he was trying to move you out of the way. You continued to guard Meg, and force Black Star to step backward closer to the rope.

He looked disturbed and nervous, and kept glancing back.

"It's not like it's against the rules to hit me!" You called to him.

"I-I'm not gonna hit you."

"But then you're gonna lose."

His eyes clouded over. He didn't want to lose with every inch of his being, but he obviously had no desire to hit you.

The rope hit the back of his shoes.

He closed his eyes and sighed.

"You owe me BIG TIME." He muttered under his breath, then stepped outside of the ring.
