Looking for Death

The next day, your alarm went off earlier than usual. You got up and got ready despite that. Meg was up too, but that wasn't very surprising.

Before long, you were on your way to school. You were hoping to ask Lord Death about that liquid, but you weren't sure if you'd have a chance.

Class was slow as usual. Afterwards, you were about to head to the death room when Meg pulled you away towards the quest board.

"We haven't been doing any quests, or collecting souls, so we should probably start." She muttered, browsing the slips of paper.

After a moment, she paused at one and pulled it off the board.

"Hmm. A factory that produces a pill that gives people a heightened sense of power. The problem is that after the power is gone, they want more and more, and it slowly destroys their body and soul."

"So it's a drug factory?" you summed up.

"Yes, I guess it is." Meg chuckled.

"Well, I'm good with taking this one."

"Then we'll leave on friday."

But rather than focusing on the quest, you headed straight to the death room.

You knocked lightly, and the door opened.

You walked down the walkway, trying to make yourself as small as possible, feeling uncomfortable.

Eventually, you came to Lord Death's area. He wasn't there.

You looked around, confused. Lord Death wasn't supposed to leave! He wasn't physically able to leave! Where had he gone?

You hurried out of the room, and quickly closed the door behind you.

You turned towards Auntie, who was watching you intently. (I'm not sure if her name was ever mentioned in the show, but Auntie is the receptionist lady that you talk to about quests and jobs)

"What're you looking at?"

"Well, you did just rush out of the Death Room in a huff. What was that all about?"

"Well, Lord Death isn't in there. Isn't he required by physics to stay there?"

Auntie seemed to mull it over. "I suppose he is. . ."

"It's very concerning, right?" You asked. She didn't seem to think there was much severity to this problem.

"Indeed it is. I suppose someone should tell Mr. Death Scythe."

You nodded halfheartedly and ran off to find Maka. She was in the classroom, even though it was time to go home.

"Hey, Maka. . ."

Your eyes traveled to the bandage on her shoulder.

"How are you?"

"Pretty good. My arm doesn't hurt anymore."

"I'm really sorry. . ."

"It's not your fault. We were in a duel. If anything, I should congratulate you. The fact that you were able to inflict this amount of damage means you're getting really strong."

You half smiled for a moment. Then you remembered why you were looking for her in the first place.

"Hey, Maka, do you know where your father is?"

Her face took on a pained expression.

"He's probably either in the library, or at. . .Chupacabra's. Why?"

"Lord Death isn't in the death room, and I wanted to ask him something."

"Woah, wait, he's not in there?"

You shook your head.

Maka sprang up, and she started to lead you away.

Sorry for my lack of updates, and the short chapter. School's been back in session for a couple of weeks now, and I'm starting to sell some stickers. (By november, I'll be selling them online, (there WILL be some Soul Eater ones) so just putting that out there. . .)

But anywho, I hope to try to get back on track starting today, but no promises until I get situated. (I just moved to high school, so it's a change.)

QOTU: If you've started school: What's your favorite class? If not: When do you start, and what are you looking forward to?

AOTU: My favorite class is health, because once a week we do ISP which is visiting the special needs kids and hanging out with them.

Anywho, Hasta la Pasta!
