Emmylou's PoV
It's been over a month since that horrific Cosmo interview but everyone is still talking about it. Mom's popularity has grown so much. Even non-country fans are praising her for sticking up for herself. Mom wouldn't let us read the article herself although I did manage to get my hands on a copy for me & Dixie-Rae to read. I'll admit I was in a tiny mood with Aunty Kim for what seemed a minute but I've totally forgiven her now. I spoke to her about the article and she admitted everything what she meant.Kimberly's PoV
(In class - just as the lesson ended)"Mrs Westbrook have you got a minute please"
Emmylou said walking over.
"Yes of course Emmylou, how can I help?"
She waited till everyone else had left then asked about the article.
"I've read the article in Cosmo and was wondering what you meant by what you said?"
"I'm really sorry Emmylou darling I didn't want you to ever find out about this."
"Find out about what?"
"I had a fling with your Mom behind Jimi's back. I promise Emmy it didn't go further than a kiss and cuddle."
"Does anyone else know the truth?"
"No."
"How long did it go on for?"
"Nearly 5 months. I was crazy about her. I know it's hard for you to hear this but we were so in love."
"Why did you break up?"
"I broke it off because I'd started seeing Jimi. I loved your mom so much I could not bare cheating on her. Before you say anything darling I know I did cheat on her in a way because I was seeing Jimi but it felt different. It was technically him cheating on her not me. I still felt major guilty though."
"Why did you start seeing him then?"
"I had the hugest crush on him."
"How did mom take it when you broke up wth her?"
"She didn't speak to me for nearly two weeks. It wasn't that difficult avoiding each other though considering she was on maternity with you but I missed her so freaking much."
"Does she know the real reason why you broke up with her?"
"No."
"Have you ever thought of trying to talk to her about it?"
I shook me head. Emmy could see that I was starting to get upset talking about my first true love in that way so she stopped asking questions. We started tidying away from class, then Emmy came out with the question I hadn't thought she'd ever ask.
"Aunty Kim?"
"Yes babes"
"Do you still having feelings for mom?"
Before I got to answer Jimi popped his head around my classroom door.
"How are my two fav girls?"
"Hey Jim!"
"Hey Mr W."
"Emmy, about the question you just asked me. Yeah I think I do."
"You do what gorgeous?" Jimi asked putting his arm round me.
"Want Emmy to set up a blind coffee date for me & her mom. I need a catch up with Karen."
I gave Emmy the look begging her to go along with me.
"I'll sort it Mrs W, Don't worry."
"Emmy how many times do I have to remind you that you don't have to call me that."
"Oh yeah, sorry aunty Kim."
"I would love to be a fly on the wall when that happens."
"I bet you would Jim, well it ain't gonna happen."
He major pouted and then we all started laughing.
Later that day
Emmylou's PoV
So here I am alone at the school gate waiting for my mother to come and pick me up. How much do you bet me that she's forgotten."Emmylou!"
I turn to where the voice was coming from. Who should walking over but Dad (Jimi) & Aunty Kim.
"Hey you two!"
"What you still doing here?"
"Waiting for mom."
"Do you wanna give her a ring to see where she is darling?"
"Hey Emmy"
"Where are you?"
"At home sweetheart, why?"
"Thought you were picking me up"
"Oh crap I completely forgot, forgive me angel"
"Already have"
"I'll set off now"
"hang on a minute, Mr W wants a word"
"What? Ok"
"Hey Karen"
"Hey"
"Do you want me to drop off Emmylou? I've got to drive pass yours anyways"
"As long as it's not any bother Jimi that would be great yeah"
"No worries"
"Alright we'll see you in a bit then"
"Ok thanks again, bye"
"Bye""Right come on you. Your chauffeur awaits."
I giggled and followed them over to their car.
