Kimberly's PoV
Two months ago I promised my 7th grade class if they all got a respectable result in their spring quiz I'd treat them all to a day trip to the Grand Ole Opry. They all passed with flying colors so I kept my half of the deal and organised it. We spent the morning been given the Opry tour by a chap called Steve, we had stopped for lunch which the Opry had kindly put on for us when Emmylou came and announced something that was going to change everything."Aunty Kim."
Emmy whispered.
"Yes darling"
"You know Steve?, the tour guide"
"Yeah, what about him?"
"He was major checking you out earlier."
"Yeah whatever Emz."
I said with a smirk.
"He was I promise!"
"At least someone's paying me some attention then."
I said with a sigh.
"What do you mean by that?"
Emmy asked.
"Your dad has barely even looked at me in weeks. I'm convinced that he's cheating on me Emmy."
The expression that came over Emmylou's face seriously broke my heart. She looked so upset. At that Steve walked in and gave me the biggest smile anyone had ever given me.
"Emmy? Is it wrong that I think Steve is kinda cute?"
"Hell no, you're only looking!!"
"Can you keep a secret sweetheart?"
"Yeah course."
I know I shouldn't have done it but I took off my engagement and wedding rings and dropped them into my bag. I spent the rest of the day flirting and being flirted with by genuinely the most sweetest person I'd ever had the pleasure of becoming acquainted with.
On the way home
"Emmy, what am I gonna do?""Why."
"Steve kinda gave me his number."
"Oops."
Emmy said giggling.
We spent the rest of the journey home just chatting about random topics. I was really starting to care about Emmy. She was such a lovely young lady.
"Don't forget to put your rings back on."
Emmy reminded me as she got out the car 20 minutes later.
"Oh Gussie, yeah thanks darling!"
I said reaching into the pocket of my bag I'd dropped them into earlier.
