Chapter Nine
What Happened

Amara's POV

The morning glare from the Earth came in through my windows. Marian, one of the servants, taped my shoulder lightly.

I opened my eyes reluctantly to see her smiling face. She was always happy to see me wake up another day.

"Good morning, Your Highness. I am sorry to awaken you, but your mother says you have guest in an hour." She meekly said.

I groaned and sat up. "Do you know whom these guest are?"

She looked at me confused then laughed,"My Princess must have forgotten! Helios and his son are visiting."

I shook my head. Sometimes I was just as dumb as people thought.

"The princess more beautiful than all must have no brains. It is only fair." My people whispered and laughed behind my back.

"Thank you, Marian. I almost had forgotten!" I laughed and excused her.

I stood out of bed, and instantly realized what Helios and his son, Pythios, coming meant. It meant pretending to listen to Immortal God shit.

Groaning, I went to my closet. Only 1thousand years ago had I finally gotten Mother to let me dress myself without the servants.

I grabbed a blood red dress. Red had always looked wonderful on me. The color went perfect with my crystal white skin, and long ebony hair.

After finishing dressing and getting cleaned up, I walked out of my quarters thinking about what Mother told me, how most Earthen females wore a thing called make-up. Things to make them more outwardly presentable, Mother had explained. I thought the concept was absolutely idiotic. Why disguise what you really look like?

My thoughts were interrupted by Mother's melodic voice.

"Welcome, Helios. Pythios it has been forever! You have grown to look quite handsome. Amara should be here any- Oh, Amara!" Mother smiled at me. Her silver hair was pinned back in a perfect bun, and she wore a long navy blue dress.

Only the queen and a goddess could look so beautiful.

Walking behind her was a man who positively glowed in the most non-mortal way. He was gifted with hair as golden almost as the sun itself, and eyes that always reminded me of the substance lava from Earth.

Beside Helios was a boy who was nearly the same age as I. Except he was 20thousand years old, the lucky mother fu-

"Hey, Amara." Pythios smirked. Mother was right, he was had grown up to be rather handsome. He had light blonde hair and amber eyes, and had the aurora around him as all half God children do.

I smiled at my life long friend.

"Hey Pythy."

He frowned and walked over to me as Mother led Helios away to the grand hall dining room.

"You know I hate that nickname." Pythios complained walking still closer to me.

"Precisely why I gave you the nickname." I smirked.

He stopped an inch away from me and my breath hitched in my throat as I felt his breath mix with mine.

As much as I hated to admit it, Pythios had always had this affect on me since we were very young.

But of course I had never told him that.

"It's been forever since I've seen you." He whispered giving me an adorable small smile.

"I know. I've missed you. 752 years since I've seen my best friend." I laughed.

Pythios looked at me in such a strange and different way making me feel so wonderful in so many ways.

"You've always been beautiful, but...wow. What did I miss in 751 years to make you look so perfect?"

My heart skipped a beat as I breathlessly answered,"Actually, it was 752 years."

He smirked and grabbed my hand and placed it on his chest over his heart. "Your one unique girl, Amara. There's only room for you in here."

My knees almost gave out. How could he make me feel so amazing in less than five minutes?

I turned my head and pulled my hand back smirking,"Come on, Pythy. My mother and your father are probably waiting for us."

He shook his head laughing.

We started walking off towards our parents when I looked back at him. "Hey, where's Cassima?" I asked. Cassima was his younger sister. The last time I had seen her she was about 8 and a half thousand years old, probably nine now.

"Oh, she's just at the palace at home. She said she would rather not come. I'm not sure how though. If I had the chance to see you, I would take it in a heartbeat."

I smiled brightly. Oh Gods, how I adored this man.

Suddenly, my eyes burst open.

I almost screamed.

Where am I?

Your room...remember? Prissy answered.

The memories came back. I wasn't at home in my palace. And worst of all, Pythios isn't actually here.

Tears escaped my face as realization hit me.

Pythios isn't here.
