The First Date

It was a nice sunny Thursday and Mystery and Hayes were walking to their happy place at Notre Endroit holding hands.

They made their to Notre Endroit, climbed up Terre, and sat down at their usual spot. Mystery sat with her legs in criss-crossed as Hayes took his place with one leg out and one leg bent.

He reached for her hand and kissed it gently. Mystery smiled and kept her eye out on the open in front of her. She closed her eyes like she usually did and let the breeze blow past her cheeks.

Hayes clutched Mystery's hand and never wanted to let go. He prepared himself for his big question.

Mystery held her eyes close enjoying the silence when Hayes crawled in front of Mystery and grabbed both of her hands.

Mystery opened her eyes and looked at him with a questioning look. Her heart skipped a beat as she got nervous about what he was going to say. She sat up straight to prepare herself.

"Mystery...these past couple weeks have been the best weeks ever." Hayes stated clearly.

Mystery blew a sigh of relief and continued to listen still bracing herself for the worst.

"So, I would love for you to accompany me on our first date."

Mystery's eyes went wide and bulged out of her head. This would be her first date and it was basically their first date as well.

"W-When?" Mystery stuttered.

"Tomorrow night. Dress your best because I'm taking you somewhere we would both like." Hayes explained.

Mystery nodded as she pulled Hayes in put a sweet kiss on his cheek.

"How did I get so lucky?" She asked him.

Hayes laughed. "I feel like the lucky one."

Mystery blushed and began to think of their date ahead. She couldn't wait until tomorrow.

Friday night came and it was the first time Hayes and Mystery didn't go to Notre Endroit. Mystery went straight home and thought of what Hayes said when he walked her home.

"I'll pick you up at 6."

"Okay. I'll be here...dressing nice."

"You always dress and look nice."

"And so do you so we won't have any problems."

Mystery smiled at her memory. She raced to her closet and looked through it scanning for the perfect outfit.

Then she saw it.

The green leather jacket and white dress with brown combat boots.

She smirked at the outfit and grabbed it and threw it on her bed. She turned to her bedside to see the time.

Mystery sighed and walked to her bed slowly. She slumped on her bed and laid back. Mystery began to think about Hayes and how excited she was for her date tonight.

She smiled at the thought of them being alone on their first date.

And with that, she drifted off to sleep.

Hayes was pacing his room biting his lip and clenching his fists.

It was 4:30 now and there was an hour and a half until Hayes' and Mystery's date. He kept thinking of her not scared something could go wrong. So all he could do was go to Notre Endroit and clear his head.

Hayes ran and ran to Terre with Mystery on his mind. She was everything to him and he wanted this night to be perfect.

Hayes climbed up the tree while planning his special night in his head. He pulled himself into the platform and sat down.

Hayes closed his eyes and took a deep breath. He tried and calmed himself and repeated under his breath, "she loves me.....she loves me...she loves me not??"

Hayes grunted and threw his head in his hands.

"Why is this so hard?" Hayes shouted to the open range.

Hayes for frustrated as he searched for the perfect words to say. He had to get it right...he just had to.

Mystery awoke and looked at the time. She frantically sat up and grabbed the dress, jacket, and boots and threw them on.

She didn't want to be unprepared. She had to look her best. She wanted this night to be perfect.

Mystery ran into the bathroom and looked at herself in the mirror. Her dress hung loosely but fit her just right. The green leather jacket was perfect for her arms as it was rolled up to her elbows.

Mystery pulled back her bangs and stared at herself in the mirror. She was so nervous she could feel her heart beating out of her chest.

No make up, no curling of the hair, not straightening of her hair. Just her natural beauty that God gave her. Mystery smiled at herself and said softly, "I can do this. He loves me....he loves me."

Mystery took a deep breath and walked outside to see the love of her life.

******

Hayes waited outside with his hands crossed in front of him as he held something in his hands. He was breathing hard with nerves pouring out of him.

Then, she walked out of the house and Hayes stopped breathing.
Mystery stopped dead in her tracks and looked at Hayes.

Hayes wore a white button up loosely that was rolled at the elbow. His hair was natural wavy and swished to the side. He wore loose khakis and finished it off with black shoes. Mystery loves his look and admired his appropriate dress.

Hayes looked Mystery up and down as he couldn't take his eyes off her. His eyes got wide as she approached him.

"You look-"
"You look-"
They said at the same time.

They both laughed.

"You look stunning...beautiful." Hayes complimented.

"Thank you. You look very handsome." Mystery complimented back.

Mystery and Hayes both nervously giggled.

Hayes extended his hand out to Mystery and Mystery accepted his hand and they walked down the small concrete pathway on their way to their first date.
