A Promise

Hayes and Mystery walked hand in hand through the door of Carlos' Diner, a groovy hip 80's themed diner that everyone went to and was even within walking distance between their houses.

Mystery and Hayes took a seat in a small booth and grabbed a menu.

Mystery was smiling at all her options, but smiled even wider as she stared at Hayes over the top of the menu.

Hayes' eyes ran up and down the menu until the fell upon Mystery's eyes.

They both smiled at each other and giggled.

Mystery felt comfortable in front of Hayes. She knew that even just eating in front him wouldn't be a problem. But it's not that she didn't want to eat, it was the fact Hayes was very quiet.

Mystery studied how Hayes barely looked up from his menu at all.

She sat her menu down and declared in her head all she wanted was to split some cheese fries and have a chocolate milkshake.

Hayes watched as she sat there and rested her head on her table and smiled.

"You know what you want?" Hayes asked.

She nodded at him.

Hayes nodded back and the waitress came just in time.

"A plate of cheese fries and then later 2 chocolate milkshakes." Hayes stated to the waitress.

The waitress wrote down the order and went back into the kitchen.

Mystery's mouth was gaped open as they both look back at each other at the same time.

"How did you know I wanted cheese fries and a chocolate milkshake?" Mystery asked surprised.

Hayes scoffed and smiled as he shook his head.

"Because all that time hanging at our place talking for hours means I know you and I will always know you."

Mystery smiled at she took her arm down from her face.

Hayes grabbed her hand from across the table.

"Mystery..."

"Hayes."

"I've already said these last couple weeks have been pretty fantastic. You've been amazing and there has never been a dull moment. In the beginning, I never thought to come here and find someone to love. But when I saw you that day at the park, I couldn't even breath. You were the prettiest girl I've ever seen. I got scared that you were going to love me just for my fame back home, but you liked me despite that...and the fact you didn't know about it," Hayes explained.

Mystery laughed as she recalled that conversation at Notre Endroit.

"I wanted to be able to say we have gone on our first date. And I wanted it to be special." Hayes said as he took his hand off of Mystery's.

Mystery watched as Hayes' face began to get red. She smiled at how nervous he was. It showed her how much he liked her.

Hayes grabbed his hands around something as Mystery furrowed her eyebrows trying to think of what it could be.

Hayes grabbed her hand again and said, "This is a promise."

Mystery looked confused until she saw the black box that Hayes slid next to her.

Mystery gasped as her hands flew to her mouth in shock.

Hayes watched her expression just hoping she would say something back. He was nervous enough and didn't want a bad reaction.

Mystery smiled as she grabbed the box her hands shaking softly. She took the beautiful ring and slid it on her left hands middle finger. As the ring slid on like butter, Hayes made a sigh of relief.
She liked the ring, that's all that mattered.

"I-I-I don't know what to say?" Mystery stuttered.

Hayes smiled at her.

The waitress came with their cheese fries, milkshakes, and some small plates while she handed Hayes the bill.

Mystery was still sitting in shock as she looked at the ring.

She couldn't find the words to tell Hayes how she felt.

Hayes grabbed a fork and watched as Mystery was about to say something.

"I love it." She said softly.

Hayes smiled and nodded casually as he grabbed a plate.

Mystery's mouth gaped open and she didn't even move. She was frozen with excitement, shock, relief.

"I-I love you." Mystery stated lowly.

Hayes stopped his picking at the fries and looked at her in disbelief.

Now it was Hayes' turn to be shocked.

"I love you too." He said back.

Mystery felt relief after her and Hayes said it.

They looked at each other and just smiled. They reached for each other's hands for reassurance and comfort.

They released finally and began to eat their fries and milkshakes and talked like a normal couple they both knew they were.

Hayes walked Mystery home holding her hand closely. Mystery laughed and walked as she rested it on Hayes.

Before they approached the house, Hayes stopped Mystery.

"I'm so glad you came tonight and that you liked the ring." Hayes said as he held both of her hands and intertwined their fingers.

Mystery smiled and looked at the ground.

"I do love it. And I do love you." She said.

Hayes tilted his and smiled at her.

"I love you too." Hayes replied sincerely.

Hayes and Mystery both leaned in as he place a simple sweet kiss on Mystery's lips. Hayes' hand fell on Mystery's face and grabbed her as he kissed her passionately. Mystery wrapped her arms around Hayes' waist and kissed him back.

Mystery and Hayes pulled back gave each other a big hug.

"Good night, beautiful."

"Good night, handsome."

Mystery walked her separate way and couldn't help but do a happy dance inside and smiled.

Hayes was rejoicing inside and smiled as we walked his separate way.
