Time

As time went by Mystery and Hayes lived their lives. Once in a while a crowd of girls showed up to school for 2 to 3 weeks. Mystery tried to get used to the attention. She would leave Hayes to the selfies and book signings with the fans.

Mystery would go to her usual spot at Notre Endroit and wait for Hayes.

But with time passing, Mystery grew weary of waiting.

Each time she would wait there was a new meaning to it.

Mystery began to think about Hayes. He would spend a lot of time there with them and then go and hang with Mystery.

She got tired of it but didn't want Hayes to know. She didn't want to let Hayes go. Not now, and not ever.

*********

Hayes arrived later than usual at Notre Endroit. He was glowing with glee and joy. Mystery was the one who wasn't so happy.

Hayes walked over smiling but then looked at Mystery and frowned. She had her arms wrapped around her knees.

"Hey hey hey...what's wrong?" Hayes asked worriedly as he rushed to her side.

She sniffles back her tears and turned towards Hayes grabbing his hands.

"You love me...right?" Mystery asked.

Hayes furrowed his eyebrows at her in confusion.

"You know I do." Hayes replied.

Mystery took a deep breath. A small tear trickled down Mystery's cheek. Hayes reached his hand and rested it on her cheek as he wiped away the tear off Mystery's cheek.

"Then you must-" Mystery tried to say as her voice cracks, "- let me go."

Mystery turned and threw her hands over her face as she burst into tears.

Hayes could feel his heart break in his chest. The love of his life was letting him go even though he didn't want to be let go.

"Mystery...hey...no!! I'm not going anywhere. Mystery?? Hey hey hey hey!" Hayes called out as he tried to comfort her.

He grabbed a hold of Mystery's shoulders and tried to pull her back. Seeing that he couldn't he just rushed in front of her.

Mystery's pale face was red and wet from crying. Mystery held herself and cried. She didn't want to just do that but she saw how happy being with his fans made him. She didn't want to be the reason he wasn't with them.

But Mystery couldn't take it. She flew into Hayes' arms.

"This is hurting me more than ever and I don't want to do this," Mystery cried out as she continued weeping, "but you're fans need you."

Now it was Hayes' turn to shed a tear. Mystery pulls away and sees Hayes starting to cry. She wraps her arms around his neck and pulls him close. Hayes grabs her and pulls Mystery into his lap and wraps his arms around her.

Mystery grabbed Hayes' face and wiped his tear off his face.

"Don't cry because you'll miss me. Cry because you'll see me again." Mystery stated poetically.

Hayes grinned up at her. But he knew that wasn't the only reason why he was crying.

"Mystery...remember that first day the girls came to our school?" Hayes asked her.

She nodded as she leaned her arms on Hayes' shoulders and clasped her fingers together having her arms around his neck.

"I got a call from my mom back home. She had warned me before I came to school that the paparazzi and crazed fans were coming because some knew my location. I didn't let that stop me and my brother almost made me stay home." Hayes admitted.

Mystery looked at Hayes. She wasn't mad. She wasn't surprised that Nash would try to keep him home but she was surprised that they were coming for Hayes and not Nash. She didn't hear any crazed fans calling for Nash. Did anyone even know he was out here?

Mystery shook her head and took a deep breath.

"It's okay. I mean I don't blame you for not saying anything." She said nicely.

Hayes kept his eyes down and bit his lip.

Mystery questioned Hayes with her eyes even though he was looking down.

She pulled her hand around from Hayes' neck and lifted his chin.

"What's wrong, love?" Mystery asked in a goofy British accent.

Hayes laughed as he was looking at Mystery.

Hayes hesitated but gave in.

"After the crazed fans came...." Hayes stopped, "...my mom asked me to come home. She said I had tour dates coming up and that since the media knew I was out here I might as well come back and act like nothing has happened."

Mystery slumped back off of Hayes' lap. Hayes looked sad as she did that and followed her to the floor where she laid.

He laid next to her and looked at her with his beautiful sea blue eyes. Hayes didn't want to let her go. It wasn't time. He wasn't ready.

Mystery was looking up contemplating her situation. She didn't want Hayes to go back either. She didn't feel it was time either. Not now, not ever.

"But...forever and always?" Mystery mumbled.

Hayes grabbed Mystery's hand and said, "Forever and ALWAYS. Always meaning forever. Always be there no matter what. Even if we are 20 years old, we will find each other."

Mystery sat up and began to cry again. Her hands flew to her face and she balled up again and put her head down.

Hayes quickly sat up with her putting one hand on her back and one hand on her leg.

He tried and comforted her but it was no use. Hayes wanted to break into pieces seeing her hurt. But all he could do was pull her into a hug and hold her for as long as he could.
