brin stared at the empty seat and realized there were people behind her that needed to get through so she quickly put her carry on in the top bunker on top of the seats and grabbed her laptop bag, sitting down in the surprisingly comfortable seat. she looked over at calum who was staring back at her and whipped out her phone, hoping he wouldn't talk to her.

but that wasn't the case. calum wanted nothing more than to talk to her. he not only wanted to apologize, he wanted to know how she was. he wanted to know what changed, he wanted to know how her family was, he just wanted to be back in her life again. they were going to be in the same spot for about 6 hours, so that had to happen. calum watched as she placed in her earbud, going through her spotify playlist to find the perfect song. he watched as she took a sip of her hot chocolate. he just missed the feeling of her. he watched as she leaned her head back into the seat and closed her eyes, enjoying the classical music that played through her earbuds. she looked so beautiful.

"excuse me passengers, very sorry for the delay but there is a slight leakage in our fuel system so it might take up some of our time before our flight to los angeles. thank you for your patience," said the captain over the intercom. calum and the others on the plane groaned except for brin, who was still listening to her music, her eyes still closed. calum was upset that they weren't moving, but on another hand, he enjoyed sitting there, just looking at brin, enjoying the sight of her, how she's changed everything about her. he moved his gaze from her as she sat up looking around.

"why haven't we moved yet?" she said as she gripped onto the armrests looking around, taking out an earbud.

"there's a leak in the fuel," calum said stuttering, trying to get her attention. she looked at calum with disbelief and groaned, sitting back and closing her eyes.

"you've gotta be kidding me," she said groaning. calum admired the way she sucked in her breath and let it all out, running her hands through her hair. she removed jacket and shoes and sat criss-crossed in her seat, leaning back.

"you look good, brin," he said breaking the silence. brin laughed at his attempt to make conversation and continued to shut her tired eyes.

"you already said that," she said. brin felt a bit uncomfortable being this close to her ex, especially for 6 hours. but something felt different.

"you just do. you aren't wearing those pigtails and jean shorts and aeropostle t shirts.."

"you trying to say something hood?" she said, joking with him.

"no, no, no, i didn't mean it..."

"it's okay. i never really liked my style then either. in fact, looking at those past pictures make me vomit," brin said looking down at her hands, shaking her head. "god, someone should've talked to me back then about that." she laughed.

"i liked it," calum said. she smiled and looked at the boy, but both of them were uncomfortable, calum cursing at himself for bringing up the subject of them dating at one point.

"well what about you? you changed too, mr. big rockstar," brin said, smiling, leaning her head back and looked over at the boy and back at her hands.

"not that much," calum laughed, his dimples forming in his cheeks.

"you're kidding me!" brin gave him a small friendly punch his arm and they both laughed. "your new tattoos and bulky arms have to be all sorts of new. you aren't wearing cargo shorts and stupid graphic shirts--"

"they were not stupid!" calum exclaimed, both of them laughing.

"so an intern?"

"so a rockstar?" brin smiled at the boy and he smiled back at her. they didn't know it, but they missed each other's smile. they really didn't have much to talk about so they looked at everywhere else except each other, whether it was talking to zoe or the flight attendants or the boys.
