groggily waking up to the sound of large laughter and stomping outside her door, brin hesitantly opened her eyes to see its almost night time, with the sun going down, aka her favorite time of the day. she got up from her bed and looked around, seeing her laptop and a bunch of papers scattered here and there. she must've fallen asleep doing her homework. she grabbed her phone from the nightstand and checked the time. 6:13pm. she straightened out her hair and pulled on an old lacrosse sweater she had a long time ago and slipped it on, going to investigate why the fuck it is so loud outside. opening the door,
she sees michael running up and down the hall with a wig on his head screaming "I AM ARZAYLEA" and he starts to laugh. i lean up against the doorway and watch as he makes a fool out of himself until he turns around and meets my eye.

"dude why'd you stop? i gotta get a video of this-" calum says before seeing michael having eye contact with his ex girlfriend. even with nap hair and barely open eyes, she was still the most beautiful he's ever seen. "hey brin."

brin turns around to see calum with his phone in his hand, turning it in between his fingertips. she scoffs and tries to disappear in her room, but calums long legs catch up to her before she can shut it fully.

"can i just talk to you?" calum says, holding the door open with both his foot and hand.

"take your foot out of the door, calum," brin says, trying to close the door but his big feet is still in the way.

"i won't until you talk to me." brin looked at the desperate boy, looking back at michael, who was taking off the wig and going back into his room. calum looked back at brin and she stood behind the door and waited for him to get the message. he did, but he didn't want to take his foot out. brin sighed and opened the door fully, allowing the boy in. "i'm sorry-"

"no you aren't." brin said, staring down at her feet. suddenly, calum's hands wrap around her shoulders, making her head bolt up to meet his gaze.

"hey, yeah i am!" he said, his deep australian accent making him a lot more intimidating than what he already was.

"then start acting like it-"

"i would, if you would give me the damn chance!" calum yelled. brin didn't looked daze. she was used to this kind of behavior; him yelling at her, not giving her a chance to speak half of the time. calum realized this a month after their breakup and he had never felt so awful in his life.

brin and calum waited in line to get their coffee, sharing kisses now and then, getting groans from the teenage girls in high school, sitting around a large coffee table, probably talking about how calum and brin should get a room. but they didn't mind. they liked being the kind of couple. it kept them together. suddenly, calum felt a small tap on his arm and he whipped his head around, meeting these bright blue eyes.

"are you calum hood from 5 seconds of summer?" she practically squealed. brin turned around but instantly gazed her attention back to the barista, knowing the fan couldn't give two shits about her.

"yeah, you want a photo?" calum said smiling to the cute squealing girl. he held up the phone, grabbing the girl's shoulder, snapping the quick photo. after the quick photo, the girl stumbled back on her feet, bumping into brin who spilled her (thankfully) small smoothie all over the counter.

"move, bitch, jesus!" the girl said, whispering, but obviously both calum and brin heard it. "thanks calum!" and she ran out the door. calum sighed and turned back around to brin, who kept apologizing to the barista, helping him clean up the counter.

"here, let me help-"

"i got it, calum," brin said annoyed, "i'm so sorry. here," she placed a ten dollar bill into the barista's hand, of course, him refusing her offer, but she still gave it to him, feeling sorry for the guy as he had to clean up the now sticky counter. calum tried helping her again, but brin brushed him off, wiping the bits of smoothie on her jacket, walking out the door. calum grabbed her elbow and turned her around as they exited the coffee shop.

"what's your problem?" calum said, whispering so the passing pedestrians wouldn't hear him.

"my problem is that you won't stick up-"

"is it my fault people are clumsy?" calum said, raising his voice.

"she told me to move when i didn't even do anything! you didn't-"

"what was i supposed to do, brin?!" he said, now yelling at her, throwing his hands up. "i don't even think she knows about us!"

"i'm tired of living in the dark, calum!" she said. brin has been keeping that in for a while now, ever since they became famous, she's always felt like she was just a hamster stuck in a cage for the rest of life. she was tired. and at that time, calum didn't know that. he refused to believe that, for some reason. he scoffed and shook his head, walking towards back to his home.

brin pushed the yelling boy off her shoulders and pulled her coat in, making her feel more secure. calum sighed and ran his hand through his hair.

"i just want to start over, brinsley." brin looked up at the boy, her eyebrows furrowed as she watched her ex boyfriend sit on the edge of the bed. "we can't spend six or so months hating each other. i couldn't live with myself." brin looked back at the boy who was staring right back at her, his elbows on his knees, chewing on his fingertips. she sighed and turned around, placing her palms at the edge of the table behind her and closed her eyes, sighing.

calum's pov

what was she going to say? she knew i couldn't live with myself if i knew she hated me. after all these years, she had too. because she did, i felt fucking awful. i don't know what to feel know. she can't hate me. she won't.

i sighed and looked around the nice room, running my hand through my hair, until i hear her say something.

"jared broke up with me," she said, quietly. she must've thought i couldn't hear her, but i could hear her as if she was yelling directly in my ear. i stood up and looked at her with an upset look. that motherfucker. my heart broke for brin, but all i wanted to do was pull that wanker's eyes out of his socket. she laughed to herself, but it was one of those sad laughs, she did as she gripped the edge of the table. her knuckles became white and i watched as her head was thrown back.

"brin," i say quietly.

"no, no. it's okay," she shook her head and turned back around, her butt slightly sitting on the edge of the table, her hands roaming her face.

"it's not okay that he broke up with you over the phone." suddenly she shook her head and ran into me, her face burying into my chest, but her hands stayed at her side, but i didn't care. i instantly wrapped my arms around her and pulled her close, her hands coming up towards my chest, gripping onto the shirt i was wearing. there, she was sobbing. she rarely sobbed. she cried here and there but when she sobbed, it was a big deal. she was really hurt.

hearing her small sobs in my chest made my eyes start to tear, my heart start to race, my hands start to get sweaty, and my head start to spin. i held her closer and slowly sat down on the ground, something i remembered she enjoyed; knowing that we were there for each other, either standing up or sitting down.

"i am so tired," she said, her cries breaking apart her words. i shook my head and nuzzled my nose into her rose scented hair, the bits and strands tickling my nose and lips, the smell lingering through. "so so tired of hurting."

"brin, it's okay."

"i,-i-i just don't want to get...," she stopped before taking a huge inhale, "hurt again."

i slightly pulled her away, me and her both whimpering from the lost of contact. i looked at her but her eyes refused to meet mine, only meeting the ground. grabbing her chin cautiously, i met her wet brown eyes, closed to get rid of the tears that was making her vision blurry.

"i will never hurt you."
