as she stared into the boy she once loved's eyes, she realized the small features he had changed about him. he had a lot more tattoos that peaked through his short sleeved shirt, his hair was shorter and his facial structure was so different, she could barely recognize him. his style was different and he looked different in general.
as for brin, calum thought she was still as gorgeous as the day they first met. he was speechless as he stared into the eyes of the girl he loved but broke. the way her style wasn't all pink and purple, it was now black, almost if she had gotten over that phase. she wasn't a girl who just graduated high school, ready to begin her life of drinking and partying, she was this woman who was starting her life all over again. without calum.
"so you've met?" zoe said, grabbing brin's arm and looking at her shocked, shocked by the fact that her intern could have possibly known one of the worlds most famous band members.
"no uhm, we went to high school, but we never really...talked," brin said smiling at her boss, trying to breathe between her words, looking back and forth at calum. as she tried her best to avoid him and talk to her boss, calum did the exact opposite. he kept staring at her. even when his security tapped him on the shoulder, he still played with the tag of his luggage as he stared at the girl he loved and probably still.
"alrighty then, you guys have to be on a plane to los angeles in an hour so, let's go and get to the gate," zoe said clapping her hands and squealing to herself.
"doing a much better job than our last manager already," said the red haired boy. brin remembered his name, but she didn't want to speak to any of them. not now. brin grabbed her carry on and placed in her earbuds, power walking to the gate to avoid any weird eye contact. unfortunately, that didn't happen. as she was still walking to the gate, which seemed to have taken forever, a small cart accompanied by the whole band and her boss zoe passed by her and stopped.
"brin, you're not seriously going to walk the entire way!" zoe said laughing, holding on to the rail. "hop on!" brin looked at her in disbelief and her heart dropped as she saw that the only place that was available for her to sit in was beside luke, calum's best friend, from what she remembered. brin put on a big fake smile and placed her bag on the chair beside her and sat next to the tall blonde, their shoulders brushing.
"alright! gate 6B!" zoe yelled and the cart went on its way. brin turned her music even louder, to drown out the fact that she sat right beside her ex's best friend, and behind her ex. brin looked at the side opposite of luke, which wasn't really all that interesting except of some small travel shops and a starbucks.
"brin," luke whispered to her. she didn't answer. in fact, she couldn't hear him. it's not like she wanted too. luke tapped her knee with his hand and he felt her tense and slowly turn around to meet the blondes eyes. "can you," he made a motion to let her know he wanted to talk to her so she took out on me earbud and lowered the volume.
"i didn't know you were going to be here," he said, his accent still there and his voice a lot deeper. "it's good to see you." honestly, brin missed calum's friends. as much of a dick he was, they all stuck together like glue, especially luke and brin. but after brin's breakup, everything changed.
a call woke brin up from her afternoon nap and she groaned, grabbing the phone that was under some tissues and answered it, not caring who it was.
"hello?" she said groaning.
"why the fuck would you do that?" yelled someone on the other line. she looked at the caller ID and saw luke's name, knowing he was talking about last night's incident.
"what now?"
"you beat him! you're fucking serious right?! after everything he's done for you, you have the fucking nerve to beat him!" luke said, practically screaming at her as if he were in the same room.
